Can Jamma Cabinets be streamlined?
« on: May 06, 2007, 10:21:25 am »
I haven't gotten around to reading the 'build your own machine' book that came out about a year ago, but I just ditched my old junky cabinet.  It wasn't being used and it wasn't in the best of shape even when I got it.  Real interesting taking it down, too...first sawing it in half to make it lighter, then having to hammer it apart to take it down the stairs.  Taking it up whole was easier :).

Soo, here's a question.  Considering how small electronics are these days, is it possible to make a atari sized Jamma plug in connector?   Something where all you have to do once it's assembled is plug it in, hook up the control wires, and speaker/power wires and boom, your done..

Or should I just save what I have now when I plan to rebuild the thing?

Now THAT'S what I'm looking for.  I could build a simple stand and place the super gun beneath it, with the controlers on top.  Super easy to carry around.

Now, question.  Who would I  be giving my money too if I bought one of those two?  Some kid in his parents  basement, or a real reputable company? If it's the former, I may consider building one of my own..if it's cost effective and simple enough..

Check eBay for superguns.

There are companies producing them such as Great Western and quite a few others. You can also find quite a few hobby builders who produce them.

Building your own supergun is really simple.   If you do not want to enter the world of router bits and circular saws I would recommend looking at JAMMA in a BOX.   Very reputable supplier and he is offering $50 off for BYOAC members right now.
