Video Card Selection Help

Hello all,

I'm currently finishing off my first arcade and it has come time for me to start putting together the PC, however i need advice on a Video Card.  As of right now I'm using a very old 24inch Television for a monitor, which only has a TV out. (no A/V connections).   what direction should i go in for a Video Card.


Please keep in mind that I plan on upgrading to an LCD screen next year but for right now the TV will have to do.

I think your only option will be an RF Modulator, and that is also going to affect your card choice.
Since you're planning to upgrade to an LCD in the future, you're going to want a card with DVI out at that time. I don't think there are many cards that offer both DVI and standard composite (yellow port) video out.

If the budget is tight, my suggestion is to get a real cheap used card with composite video out and an RF Modulator. The image quality using this setup is the poorest of all the connections (straight Composite with no modulator, VGA, S-Video, Component, DVI), but it'll get you a playable image on the screen with that old TV.

My older Dell laptop had S-Video to composite adapter.  If you can find something like that (Ebay?) then any video card with DVI and S-Video output will do (pretty common).  I always recomment a bit older video card with just heatsink and no fan.  Something like ATI Radeon 9250 and up.  They run pretty cheap now.
