Hi all & a question
« on: May 01, 2007, 01:53:39 pm »
Hi, I'm new to all of this stuff and have a request for opinions on this game I am thinking about buying.  It's a Mortal Kombat 2 game that has been put into a modded Arch Rivals cabinet. The seller is asking $250 for it and it would be a local drive to pick it up.  He has stated that the 25" monitor is in great shape and all of the hardware works.  Is it worth $250? Thanks!

If the monitor is really in good condition (no burn-in, in good working order, etc.) and it comes with everything shown (coin door, joysticks, buttons, etc.) then it's probably a good deal.  I'd trash the actual cabinet though and build something else - that's a pretty ugly design, IMO - plus the monitor is almost mounted vertically which I would think would be uncomfortable to play.

Sounds like a good deal to me, especially if everything is in solid condition.  Bonus if you like the cabinet itself, the layout, etc.  The fact that it's a local cab can be a big plus.  Good luck!

I'm on the opposite side . . I think its a great cabinet design and very comfortable to play.
You can sit or stand and see perfectly.

My only question is  . . how the hell do you fit a 25" monitor into an Arch Rivals cabinet??  My Arch Rivals came with a 19" and it was all I could do to smash a 19" crt in there.

And $250 sounds like  a perferct price

Thanks for the quick answers! I guess I will need to use it for a while before I make a judgement on the cabinet design.  I have kids and some bar stools who will be investigating the ergonomics =)

From our back and forth these are some of his comments.

Description: "It's a Mortal Kombat 2 commercial coin operated arcade game. It has a nice cabinet with a sharp 25" monitor and all of the controls work well. It comes complete with keys for both the coin door and back door and also comes with the original manual".

When I asked about damage or mechanical problems he stated...
"No problems with it, there is a button that sticks a little but I've got a new one on order and it should arrive by tomorrow".

He is going to send me some better pics tonight of the monitor in action. If I am satisfied, I will make the trip to check it out in person.  Thanks for your help, I think my face will be glued to these forums for quite a while now.

I would take the fact that he has the original manual and is intending to replace something as simple as a button as good first indicators about the whole deal.
