Hadn't seen this earlier, but the Blue Brain is attempting to simulate a brain with a supercomputer.

An article in Der Spiegel explains in a more readable form

Mmm, considering Jeff Hawkins, I'm not sure this is the way to go.

They are not trying to create artificial intelligence. They are simulting a brain. The goal is mostly to see if the current theories about the brain are accurate.

Though there are several points of interest, I think the creation, or enabling or whatever, of consciousness was implied if not said. But, yeah, I spose.

I just wish Battle Bots would be outlawed.  After the inevitable robot uprising, they're going to be asking some pretty tough questions about that kind of exploitation.   ;D

I wonder what's worse, the few fighting bots or the millions of robots that we enslaved to work in our factories for no wages.

Aohhhh.  Didn't at all get that till just now (and though I'm no homophobe, there was a definitive testosterone blanket I found a little uncomfortable when I visited there some years ago), and only happened to come here by way of needing to find the topic linked to present in a discussion elsewhere. <gives chad a noogie> You such funny guy.
