Which is the best buttons?
« on: March 21, 2002, 04:23:50 pm »
Im going to order some buttons.

Is Happs the only way to go to get real gaming feeling? What is used in REAL arcades? What do you prefer?

Third vote for Happs Horizontal. Nice feel, good action, and love that click!

Part# 58-9155-L (from a bag in my spare parts box, should be a yellow button).

Later,

Can I get a witness?   AMEN...   yeah, Happs horizontal microswitch pushbuttons are the thing...  I don't honestly think that I've EVER played a game in the arcade that had convex buttons.

another place to check out for parts orders is http://www.centsibleamusements.com

they don't have a minimum parts order, and the payment options are GREAT.  They're down in Florida I think, but I live in Michigan, and my parts get here the 2nd day after I order them.

Good luck with your panel!

I've got some vertical pushbuttons on my controller, which I really haven't used much, but some of them are starting to stick already.

Additionally, when new, the vertical buttons require more force to actuate.

I guess that's why they call it a "major design flaw!"

Try The Real Bob Roberts. I ordered stuff from him a few weeks ago and had no problems whatsoever, even when I had to add something at the last minute. He's really good about answereing e-mail. He's has happs stuff for cheaper than happ sells 'em. He also has leaf buttons if you go that way.

horizontals are the way to go. i have most of mine installed and i can barely even tell they are microswitched. buttons make a noice when you hit em anyway so you dont really hear a click. i can understand on joysticks wanting leaf switches, the clicking is more noticable then. but on buttons? thats a waste.

I have to say the blue ones.

My daughter likes the purple ones, but if they sold pink ones, I'm sure she would change her minds

I'm also a little partial to the white ones for the start buttons... especailly if they have a little picture of the oscars on them.

;)

Yes, Bob is the best!  Got all my Happs stuff from him.  He even sent me an extra joystick spacer when I accidentally threw it out with the foam peanuts, free of charge!  BTW, his link is http://www.therealbobroberts.com
