Haha, these things can be bought here on every streetcorner....they are intended for mains wiring. F.I. house installations here have non-stranded wires that come into a box (usualy in new homes set in the concrete). Than you get two or three terminals of a strip like that and wire up your light armature to it. Remeber that if you use stranded wire to tin them for best contact.
They used to be called "kroonsteen" )= "crownstone") here and most people still call them that way.....stange name....

Personlay I use a pretty fancy terminal strip, mainly because sometimes these are "left over" from some work projects.
It's a mini-DIN rail. This one simply has only terminals on it. I only use this for power distribution now, although not much is connected to it yet
