CanaKit Colour Organ Upgrade to L.e.d. Lighting
« on: April 22, 2007, 08:18:20 pm »
I have posted information on how to upgrade a CanaKit Colour Organ to L.e.d. Lighting on my site. The download is free with option for a donation if you find it usefull. If you use the info and have questions you can either post them here or on the forum on my site. I will be posting small little projects like this on my site once in a while including plans for the juke and light grids coming soon.

Some very cool stuff you have on your website. I just bought a bunch of LED voltage meters. I'm going to try and make a large Graphic equalizer out of them. I have ten of them so I will need to daisy chain them to the speaker wires (I think) with a splitter (One wire to the speakers and the other to the voltage meters. These should get power from the speakers, and not need an external power source. If these don't work I'm going to try the color organ!

I am currently thinking how I would like my jukebox to be constructed.   I only wish I knew how to make colors dance like you did ..... looks great.

questions:

1) How much does it cost to make one of those color tubes (including PCBs, ribbon cable, leds, etc..)?

2) What does a "blue cobalt acryllic mirror" look like and where can I buy some?

The Blue Cobalt Mirror and the Refrigerator White Opaque Acrylic for the light grids you can get from these people as cut drops(save money)!
http://stores.ebay.com/FRIGO-DESIGN_W0QQfcdZ2QQfciZ6QQfclZ3QQfromZR10QQfsnZFRIGOQ20DESIGNQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQftsZ2QQsaselZ32473936QQsofpZ0QQtZkm

Now for the Light Grids these are not super cheap but does allow you to buy the parts as you have the money.

All Prices for 1 Light Grid
1. DDF Circuit Board Controller $35.00 + parts from Digikey $35.00 total $70.00 each

2. My Led Cal Boards $7.50 ea x 8 for 1 grid

3. Trimpots for Cal Boards $.75 each x 256 you can bargian a better price on these from All Electronics as I did and got all of the for $125.00.

4. Ribbon Cable 10ft for $3.85

5. Plastic cost varies but reasonable $20.00 to $30.00 for 2 different pieces of acrylic

6. L.e.d's Red 128 = $15.00    RGB 128 = $80.00 can bargain with Ebay seller on better led pricing.

Total = app. $400.00
