anyone done something similar to this
« on: April 21, 2007, 07:05:09 pm »
Alright what I am wanting to do is to build a cockpit cabinet, but instead of it being for racing games, I'd like to build it with a 1 player control panel.  The panel would have 1 maybe two joysticks 6 player buttons and a trackball.  I guess I got the idea from the missile command cockpit and the tron enviromental.  I want something that is closed in on one side except for a small window like the missile command, and has a opening on the other like a cock pit.  I've been playing around with ideas on sketchup but haven't had much luck.  I want it more closed off than most cockpits like pole position, but open enough inside to be comfortable.  Just wondered if anyone had thought of doing this, and had any suggestions.

What I want is a lightweight bar similar to those Crazy Taxi Standup cabs and some pinball games like funhouse that has the back support rail.

That would solve creating a dedicated enviromental cab, and it wouldn't have to look like a Tardis.....
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

heres a couple of rough ideas I've come up with.  I am kinda leaning towards to pole position style, just because I've found some plans on the web I could easily modify.  However I like the shape of the other one.  I'm thinking  a time machine theme would be the way to go:
