« on: April 19, 2007, 07:05:00 am »
Curious if anyone is actually using this software and whether anyone tested it out with a touchscreen....

Nothing really .... just curious whether people are using it and like it.    I guess it would be nice to hear feedback from a touchscreen user ...... and others of course.....

Mainly I am just curious what people think ...

Am I the only one who uses this?   Curious if this works on various operating systems.

Although, I guess if no one is using it then it does not matter.    :P

You can not see if somebody have downloaded your file, while i can on my webhotel?

Here I still got hits of v22 (I stoppet it in v30) of Arcade Music Box, which is that version I submitted to Softpedia. You should maybe add your software to that site, if you not allready do that?

We should not just relay on arcadecontrols.com only to spread the software.

Otherwice good luck to get more users of your software  :D

That is too much extra effort for me .....   :P

I am happy with Saint hosting it here for me .....   the software was really just for me, but I was just curious if anyone else tried it out.  I like it and I guess that is what really counts.

I have not fooled around with MALA in a while.   I think I am too lazy to create plugins although I have been seeing some neat one being developed.   I develop in Visual Basic since this is the software I have lying around.

I am working on gathering parts and planning my jukebox cabinet right now.   That is my next project.

Finally got around to doing it here at work, but i would like to know what files the support installer was installing.. I see in installs LaVolopes Buttons OCX and a Richtx.OCX anything else? It would be nice to know what exactly was going on the syste, as you install these to the windows\system folder rather than to the uncle t jukebox folder.

Can you tell me how i add music in, i might be a bit stupid here...

I added the music path C:\MP3 but that didn't work...

So i added each Album which is a sub folder of there...

I still couldn't see the music and so i closed and re loaded and all the paths i had put in were no longer there..

I did click the update button when i added the paths and it said it was updating the libraries but still nothing...

Another thing i noticed was how long it took to draw the page. This might be to do with how you have skinned the form. If you are using picture frames you could be better off using picture boxes as containers. The draw a lot faster.

Initial loading of the page is slower than anything else so dont worry about that.   It will not be as slow after.

For the music path setup... checkout the FAQ:

http://unclet.arcadecontrols.com/Jukebox/faq.html

Since there are two ways to store you files (with track numbers already assigned and without track numbers assigned), you set the following option appropriately before loading the song tracks into the jukebox:

   Options Menu/Misc(Page 1)/Song Track Numbering

After this do the following to load the albums:

- Go into the Options menu
- Select Music Directories
- Select the directory which has all the "artist" directories in it
- Click the UPDATE button

That should be it.....

PS:  If you do not set the "Song Track Numbering" option appropriately then the application might not find your songs.  For example: If your song files are not prefixed by track numbers already, but the option indicates that track numbers are supplied, then the application will onnly look for song files with numbers (which you do not have any), so no songs will be found ..... also vice versa causes the same "no songs" result.    Basically, just remember to set the "Song Track Numbering" option before loading to indicate to the  application which type of song track numbering you have (ie: with or without).

I think you will be pleasantly supprised just how easy it is for you. What version of VB do you use VB6 VB 2005?....  A jukebox Plug-in...  With your skills a Video Screen saver would be nice as that would take a load of Swindus (as the Video screen saver built into MaLa is a prob for Rc9. I only started coding for fun mid last year. Imagine waht you could do with your skills.
C'mon  .....   ;D

Let me know what version you code in and I can send you some sample code

I am currently using MALA RC7a ..... I have not upgraded to RC9 since I was not too interested in all the video, sounds, plugin, etc..  changes that went into it so I never took the time to upgrade.   I think MALA works great for me with the version I currently am using.  I am a no thrills kind of guy I guess  :P

I use VB6.0 Enterprise Edition ...... it does not really state a year on it.

If you wanted to try RC9 you only need to swap the executable I think (for layout too), So you can easily roll back if you didn't like it. It would great to bet get your opinion/views.

Thanks.. Sorry to get off topic everyone.

Do yourself a favour and download   UncleT's Jukebox  ;D

Files installed into Windows/system are:

comcat.dll
LaVolpe3Button.ocx

riched32.dll
RICHTX32.OCX
ScrCap.dll
vcSLIDERCTL.ocx
asycfilt.dll
oleaut32.dll
olepro32.dll

Note: Installation of a file only occurs if the file does not exist already and only if the version of you have (if you have one already) is older than the one being installed:

Fonts installed are:

Personly, I would have them installed on your Uncles Jukebox folder, if they are not standard.

The reason is, if the uninstaller dosen't remove these files from the systems folder when remove (because some users may click no to remove these files), you may end up with many garbaged files.

This it not good and can slowdown Windows.

That is why I avoid copy anything to the window folder, so my software can been eaisly uninstalled.

I just went with what was recommended to me to do with an installer.   I am not an expert so I wanted to use an installer so ensure everything was handled perfectly for the users.

Maybe this weekend

There a lot of little features.   Make sure you get a video and get a lyrics file as well.   Once you select the video to play, then go into the Media tab to view it.   Now you can click the video display one time to cycle through the album cover, lyrics text (which can scroll automaticlaly) and then finally back to the actual video playing.   This is my favorite feature.    Of course you can double-click on the video display to make it go full screen.

PS:  I also put in dual monitor support as well.  This was something I wanted for a very long time but was too lazy (burnt out) to put the code in place.  However, my wife gave me the go ahead to build a jukebox cabinet so this is what started me coding again.   Anyway, coding is done and I am now collecting parts for the cabinet.

Glad someone else is using the software .... it is pretty stable.   I could only imagine people do not use it since they think it is specifically for videos only .... however this is not the case.   If you have a MP3 collection only, then a user can very easily stay on the "Albums" tab all the time.  Oh well..... I like it.   Once my cabinet is done I will post pictures.  It will probably take me a while since I move slow.   ;D

Hey I finally set-up the Juke PC with some Vid's... Super Cool    :applaud:

I have not experienced the joy of the forementioned 'lyrics file' yet. Where does one acquire such a thing (said in a posh British voice just for the hell of it)

If your song title is called "MySong.mp3" or "MySong.mpg" then simply create a file called "MySong.txt" located in the same spot the mp3/mpg files.  Now edit the text file with the lyrics to the song and save it.  You will need to get the lyrics from the internet .... quick google search shall do for you.

I believe these options are defaulted to be ON, but just check to make sure:

1) "Option menu/Miscellaneous/Page2" has the option "Clicking on display cycles through different views" which allows the users to cycle through media display, lyrics, album cover.
You can active this option primary and dual monitor displays.

2) "Option menu/Miscellaneous/Page1" has the option "Allow automatic lyric scrolling" which will make the lyrics scroll while the song is playing.

PS:   I am assuming you downloaded the album art as well ... correct?
