Took home A Neo-Geo and Dragons Lair...
« on: April 19, 2007, 01:39:13 am »
Went and picked up Two more cabs today...Well I let my buddy buy the Dragons lair, Now he's sucked in to the hobby.  >:D

I got a nice looking 4 slot, It's pretty sweet looking, really in great condition.  3 metal slug games came with it...3, 4, and 5,  All pretty fun IMO.  I'll have to get a couple fighting games though and one for the kids.  I had forgotten about the cool headphone jacks and memory card slots in these cabs.  Cool. Ant the LED readout of how many credits on the CP is also nice.  Anyone know any good games...Must haves?

The Dragons Lair is also in really good condition.  It is the 20th Aniversary edition with Dragons Lair 1 and 2 and Space Ace.  I'll have to get pics later.  I let my buddy get it. When I told my friend about them today at lunch he flipped and said he must have it.  I was ok with it cuz I couldn't have gotten 2 cabs and now I have a reason to build a Daphne cab someday. (doesn't hurt that I can play it whenever I want anyhow.)

It must be pretty new, it's not even on KLOV.  (Or will Klov not list dual game cabs?)

Below is a pic of the 4-slot...

My cabs are just multiplying...Funny how that happens...I think I have room for one more...and I still need a virticle Mame cab...LOL

But don't tell the Wife I said that. I barely got the blessing for this last one.  :woot

Nice, those are two quality pickups. I would definitely grab a Neo Geo cab if I could find one in acceptable condition.

A 4-slot dedicated Neo-Geo cab is on my short list of things to pick up.

There are tons of good games for it. My gameplan now is to go for variety in all 4 slots.

slot 1 - Fighter (KOF 99,Mark of the wolves, samurai shodown)
slot 2 - Puzzle (bust-a-move again)
slot 3 - Platform/Beat-em-up - (Metal Slug 3, Sengoku 2 or 3)
slot 4 - Shooters (Prehistoric Isle 2, Blazing Star)

I figure this is the best way to make use of the space of the cabinet as I have pretty limited space.

How much did you pay for yours? I can't seem to find a dedicated for less than $450. I'm considering picking up the 4-slot hardware and "converting" a dynamo cab.
Brevity is not my strong suit.

We took them both home for $1000, each paying half.  I know we could have gotten the DL for $400 so I have to say we paid $600 for the Dedicated 4-slot. (Although I paid only $500! ;D)   I am happy to see that Metal Slug 3 is on most peoples "must have" list...and at quick glance 4 and 5 are going for around $50-$75 on ebay.

At either price I'm pretty happy with it.  The monitor is beautiful and the cab is in great shape. As with any cab that's been on location there are a few scratches and small nicks but I'm not worried.  I bought it to play/fiddle with and it's just a bonus that it looks brand new from across the room.

The only part it was missing are the three Metal slug marquee cards.  Instead there's four others in there. Baseball, Samurai shodown and two that I can't remember.

I found it interesting that the counter sowed over 100,000 credits/coins...that means this machine has brought in $25,000-$50,000. Depending on it's pricing.

Also interesting was the manual I found on the bottom of the cab...It wasn't for this one it was for a sit down crazy taxi.  (the seller had one of these also...but too big for me.

I think I'm going to copy it and then send it back to him. (Win-Win...)

Where are you from knave? And how much was that Crazy Taxi? That is like my all-time favorite driving game.

Yeah, I know Crazy taxi is probably one of the most fun driving games...

It's in northern CA, the guy was asking $2000 but I think there's room now to talk him down at least some.

Just for the record he also had:

Mario bros for $500, he said it was all original.  The art and CP looked great but there was one or two spots of cab damage and the monitor flicker was only OK. I talked him down to $300 but in the end I decided on the 4-slot.  He might go a bit lower...?

Carnival King; This was a pretty fun lightgun game but it does not compare to Area 51.  It's like a electronic shooting galery.  It has one gun? so no two player.  Looked in good condition. He was asking $1500...but like the taxi I think he'd come down on that some.

By now those three games are about to be packed up for storage...
