Building my cabinet, video hookup help and other questions
« on: April 18, 2007, 06:46:55 pm »
Ok, so I'm ready to do my PC emulator arcade cabinet. I want to run windows so I can run Wgens, Zsnes, Nester and hopefully Zinc in addition to MAME.I have everything ready and figured out... except video.
I've done my research, but I still have a couple questions:

1) the cabinet's monitor is a huge SharpImage 33" (I think this was an NBA Jam cab).  Is this a worthwhile monitor?  Will i have problems with it? I know these guys are gone now.

2) what is the best way to get my box hooked-up? I've scoured forums, websites, and google and have it narrowed down to the following:  ArcadeVGA and breakout from Ultimarc, or just tap onboard video VGA output, run to R,G,B H sync  and V sync and use WinVGATV. Any other suggestions would be appreciated on making my video go to the monitor from the VGA out.

Which is the better method?  Will the second even work as described?

3) My chassis also has an E pin. that's ground, right? do i connect to it from the 15-pin VGA ground?

Thanks in advance!

Go with the arcade breakout cable and ArcadeVGA.  This will give you a well supported piece of hardware and software.  The WINVGATV has not been supported since 2001 and is very old.  I don't remember anyone haveing great success with this at all.  The video cards are also from that era and very limited and not available for newer PCs.
