OK, I have seen reason and finally figured out how to determine if it is broken...

...Can it still fit in your basement. If not, then it is broken. ;D

Chad never jumps on the bandwagon. I don't generally agree with him, and have had several arguments with him -- but he always speaks his mind regardless of who's opinions it disagrees with.

With that said, his response here is based on common sense, and I've used the "tires" (and shocks) analogy as examples of consumables myself.

Others include:

- Vacuum cleaner bags
- Lightbulbs
- Tennis racket or guitar strings
- Batteries
- Filters of many kinds
- Spark plugs
- Etc.

In general, an item needing a consumable part replaced is not said to be "broken" by real people in real conversations.

It's in a less than satisfactory, partially functional as manufacturer intended state with limited use potential on the world market.

By a margin of almost 10 to 1, real people that have real conversations disagree with you.

Here comes the rationale that they're all part of the Drew Crew or simply mocking you *yawn*

People would generally say something along the lines of: "It needs a new switch." (or whatever consumable part it needs)

Obviously you don't know what is meant by "real conversations".

I already know how people talk in the real world, and it is not going to change any time soon.

For someone so smart, you sure do rise to the bait so easily.

Here's a word of advice. Don't take it lightly.

Quit stressing when other people talk about you and don't rise to their bait. These sort of things either settle out or they end badly. Either way, it never ends with you, "winning," because there are no such thing as winners. There's no trophy, there's no cash prize, there's no job at the end of this discussion. There's only one thing that counts and it's information. The more you prove you know your ---Cleveland steamer---, the more respect you earn. You tell us you're smart? Mayhaps it's time to prove it.

Again, go and read, "Welcome to the Internet," by redpaw. Go look at the, "Flame Warriors," by reed. That is exactly what is happening here. If you don't, won't or can't recognize something that basic, then you have my pity.

Here's how I see it...

At the end of the day, in this community opinions count for everything.
The general consensus is that if joystick A requires too much maintenance to do the job it was intended for, most people will opt for joystick B which does the same job but doesn't brake so easily or as often. You've got every right to tell everyone they're wrong and that joystick A is awesome, but if you take a step back and read the writing on the wall you might realize that you're just making yourself like like a tool and possibly misleading newcomers along the way.

That joystick is broken.

My tracker has a Broken alternator belt right now. The alternator and the fan do not spin, therefor the car is broken as of now. Once I replace the "consumable" belt, the car will no longer be broken.

Here's a word of advice. Don't take it lightly.

I think the concept of "bait" confuses you. You or others may think you're "baiting" (lol), but that is like the mouse thinking it is baiting the cat. Now I'll explain this analogy to you because if the concept of "baiting" confuses you, an analogy will certainly leave you sporting a blank and confused stare:

Bait without a trap is just free food, LOL.

LOL @ "stressing". Arguing is one of my favorite things to do. I don't go around here looking to start arguments, because this isn't a forum intended for that; but as long as I have a handy invite...

Possibles for your father?   ;D

I have no idea what the context of this conversation is... I answered a yes or no question based on the face of what was contained within the question.   :dunno  If there's some context that involves a joystick that was sold, or MaximRecoil at all, I don't know about it.

There have been 2 huge threads post helled because maxim was arguing with people about the quality of Nintendo joysticks and the definition of the work "broken". One of those threads was 10 pages long and it was post helled twice and it was yesterday. Maxim had over 100 posts in that thread alone. It was amazing.

Sorry to hear about your Tracker shardian.
hehe. thanks.

It breaks fairly often - I believe my harmonic balancer is shot...and probably some bearings in the engine. The belt has shifted to the point it is eating thru the timing belt cover.Who knows. Good news is I have the belt change down to an artform. I don't know how or why, but the thing has 215,000 miles and still purs like a kitten. It leaks oil like crazy due to a few seal leaks and probably over pressurization. I ain't sinkin any more money into it because I know as soon as I start fixing it up, I will either wreck it or it will blow up.

It's a Tracker - put it in the basement and replace the windshield with an LCD, replace the engine with an Xbox.  You'll get far better driving from it that way.

There's just nothing else to say, your astounding use of logic and your crafty steering with the English language far exceeds anything my feeble Shakespearean mind could ever hope to overcome.

How convenient. That just happens to be one of the two post helled threads I mentioned earlier. And yes, you drudged it up out of nowhere many months later to argue debate about the Nintendo sticks. His recollection is spot on.

Man, I can't get rid of that thing. I love my tracker. It is fun to drive year-round. The dang thing just won't die, no matter how much I neglect it.

Since you mention that though, I remember playing Daytona USA inside of a real Nascar that had a video screen that replaced the windshield. That was sweet!

Man, I can't get rid of that thing. I love my tracker. It is fun to drive year-round. The dang thing just won't die, no matter how much I neglect it.

A friend of mine in HS had one of those.  It was a chick magnet.  Everywhere we went chicks would come up and ask for a ride.  It didn't drive well and was hell in the harsh MA winter but we loved it because it got us chicks without even getting out of the car.

Since you mention that though, I remember playing Daytona USA inside of a real Nascar that had a video screen that replaced the windshield. That was sweet!

Me too, it was pretty cool, they brought one to where I work for some reason last summer.

Isn't the Tracker a four-banger?

That section of it was PostHelled.

I'm sure if you insist - we can arrange something. Are you denying it?

Your summary is wrong. Like I said, go ahead and get the real post or posts if you can and then I'll give you a play-by-play. Here is a hint: there was nothing argumentative going on until remnants from the Wico vs. Nintendo joystick thread from a few days earlier came along with their two cents' worth, two cents that obviously couldn't buy them any reading comprehension ability.

You posted in an Markrvp's thread that hadn't been posted in for many months. That is fact. But are you telling us there is a 3rd thread that you got post helled that we forgot about? I hope so.
