GamePad modding
« on: April 13, 2003, 08:22:30 pm »
G'Day all,

I recently purchased a USB MS Sidewinder GamePad which I want to incorporate into my control panel.  The problem I have is, unlike many of the Gamepad tutorials online, my GamePad doesn't have any unused solder point (holes to solder wires into)?

Given that the PCB is single sided, can I just drill a hole into the board close to solder point ??  Are the any tip or tricks to drilling through the PCB ?

Is there a better way ??

yes, buy a keyboard encoder (ipac, keywiz)  *rim shot*

your proposed method sounds good.   Most of the sidewinder hack  explanation sites deal with the gameport variety which had the handy dandy contact points you alluded to.... although I recently saw a link on here for a pictorial of a usb sidewinder hack... I'll dig it up and EDIT my post...
