Got a Pole Position Arcade Machine Steering Wheel

and i'm trying to build a mame with car racing games.. How would i wire to get steering to work and also the shift ?/

you can hack the optics pcb from the wheel into a mouse.. for the shifter you can wire that into the mouse buttons or a gamepad or joystick....   when you do you might want to wire both of the positions into the same button seems to work better for shifting. For the pedal I replaced the 10k pot that comes on the pole pedal with a 100k pot. Then added another 100k pot to have another axis (windows does not seem to have a single axis joystick driver so you need two) then just hack those into a joystick port plug.

You can connect the wheel to an Opti-Wiz, Opti-Pac, Mini-Pac, or Mouse Hack.  The correct pinout for the optics can be found in this thread:

The shifter can connect to your Ipac, Keywiz, or whatever you're connecting your buttons to.
