Is $500 for a working candy cab a good deal?
« on: April 11, 2007, 09:33:50 am »
Check this out:  http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/tag/309001554.html

I live fairly close so I could check it out but it would be a pain and a waste of a day if it didn't pan out (or fit in the back of my MDX).   ;)

Is this a good deal? - The description sounds completely shady (bought for $1,100 each and selling for $500?)...

Read a little more carefully.  He purchased the cabs back in Oct 2005.  It could still be shady but might be worth checking out.  Call him up and ask for dimensions to see if it will fit in your truck and your home.

I hope that the guy realizes that it takes a lot of money to make it as a director in the movie business.

TTFN

I live in NYC and also saw this ad.....I agree seems shady and I've steered clear. I would go with your gut.....and not waste your time....I smell scam somehow.... :dunno
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

i actually bought a hyper neo geo from him.  He was nice guy buy yeah his craigslist post is shady as hell.  He said he originally had 12 now he has 2?  It looks like those cabs were the only thing there.

The hyper neo does work and i asked him to turn it on before i put it in my car.  The other 2 big century's that he has left looked like it was in bad shape though.  He probably won't have all the keys for the cab either.

Either way, i'm happy with my hyper neo but i wouldn't pay 500 for one of the others.

I'm not sure what I'd pay for a Big Century.  It looks like a decent cabinet and you can google the specs.  Even Matsu's older cabs like Astro Citys are starting @ $500 and get a lot more expensive so condition may make or creak the deal.

But they do look a bit less rugged then other candies, so it's up to you.
