I saw a glimpse of side art, and it has the centipede looking thing on it, and it also has a man with a red helmet on.  I don't know the name of it, and I'm not sure how much it's worth but I need to know cause I may go and pick it up this week, if it's something that I might like.

A buddy of mine got a complete non-working Millipede at an auction for $200, spent lots time cleaning and repairing it, then only got $300 when he sold it on Ebay.

Also saw a complete Millipede with monitor issues on CL for $170.

These Millipedes don't seem to be commanding a very high price lately that I have seen. :dunno

It all really depends on who wants it and how much they are willing to spend on it.

If it was me, then $150 tops for non-working, non-restored.

For a working, average condition,  $250.

For a working, great condition, $400, and that is if I'm really really wanting one.

For a working, restored, awesome condition... That's up to you... taking into account that you could easily spend $500 or more restoring one, plus labor and heartache :banghead: which usually accompany many of these restoration projects.

It is really up to you and how much you think it is worth to you.  Good luck.

Well I'm hoping to get this one for less then $100 also, I wouldn't mind having the cabinet, and the track ball in it.  And heck maybe even just leave it like it is and play it.

Well I went to look at it today, and it's missing the back, the marquee, and it doesn't work.  It powers on but doesn't make any sounds.  The side art is in good shape, and he only wants $40 for machine.  Not sure if it's worth it or not, I'm already wanting to make a 1 player machine with just minimum buttons and a 4 way joystick to play the classics on and maybe this one would be the perfect candidate to get a cabinet out of it.

Here are some pics

Wo do yall think it would be worth it just to have?

I would buy it, but that's just me. I don't know if you're going to be up for all the work to either get it in playable shape again or to MAME it. I would love to see this cabinet get a full restore instead of any other fate, but that's not really for me to decide.

With the side art in such good condition, a collector would probably pay $200-$300 for it even though it's broken.

$40 Dollars!!!  Get it man!!!

You could always put a PC monitor in there, old P2 or P3 computer that you got laying around, old rev. of MAME, mouse to Trackball hack, and you got yourself a Centipede/Millipede multi.  It will be a lot cheaper than a full restore, plus you could keep or sell the internal parts.  Get a new marquee for $35 and you are in bidniz...

If you want to do the 4-way-joystick-and-button-regular-MAME, that is up to you... I suggest you make an extra control panel out of wood so you don't hack up the original CP.

The "humane" thing to do with MAMEing original cabinets is to make the conversion easily reversible, and to hack the original machine as little as possible.

I know that once you get one cabinet going, you will want another, then you will want another bigger and better one, then you will want to restore the Millipede, then you will want some more dedicated original cabinets...

It just gets out of control for many of us, we start with one, then pretty soon you are turning over cushions on the couch trying to find change for the next Super Auctions...  and you are constantly scouring Ebay and Craigslist for arcade cabinets...

Well...Good luck what ever you decide to do...

I've already got it bad.  I Have a galaga that just got done being painted yesterday goin got pick it up tomorrow, and then going to put all the peices back into it.  I have a big cabinet, that I bought a 2.8 ghz p4 to put in it, and have a key wiz coming from groveygamegear  and I've already got my buttons, and plan to use the joystick from mercs, so I'd have one extra that I could use for a new cabinet, thats why I was going to buy a cheap pc, just to put it in, I'd do a keyboard hack because I wouldn't want to buy an ipac or keywiz for just a few buttons.  So I think I'm going to pick this one up tomorrow, and then just set it aside until I get done with my big MAME machine.

Hawk

Hawk,

Get a KeyWiz or GPWiz eco encoder board.  It'll be the best $21 you'll spend on that thing.  Hacking a keyboard can be a disaster.  Besides you will need inputs for the stick as well.  Figure a coin button, or coin door, start, pause, exit game, 2-3 action buttons and the stick you have close to 10 inputs there.

TTFN

Yeah I'm going to get it, and set it off to the side, I'll probably work on it once I get out for summer break.  I'll have to cut a back for it though.

Please don't put a joystick on that thing.  Millipede is one of the greatest arcade games ever made IMO.  Restore it or make it a Centipede/Millipede multi as ArtMAME suggested.  You can always find another burned out crappy cabinet for your MAME project.

My mame project already has a cabinet. I would be buying this to do as one suggested the mouse hack, and put a cheap computer in it.

Heck of a deal ... artwork is BEEYOOTIFULLL ... a Multipede (even MAME-based) is a perfect use for this cabinet.

Nice Grab!

Got it today, and it is a beauty.  The art work is in amazing shape.  I will go in a retouch up the white.  And I'm going to MAME it with just track ball games, mostly bowling, golf, and then millipede, and centipede, and I'm not sure what others used a trackball but I'd play them on there.  Of coarse that means a new cp, I'll have to fab the metal peices to make it, cause I don't want to mess up whats already there.  The track ball is crap, really rough, maybe a rebuild kit can fix it????? let me know.

New bearings and rollers should make just about any trackball run like a champ again. In most cases just giving the bearings a good cleaning will do wonders. If the rollers are worn, they need to be replaced. If nothing else a brand new trackball could be had for around $60.

Before you resort to making it a mame cab, try to fix it. It could be something easy. Emulators are great, but never quite the same as the real deal.

If you do get it to work, arcadeshop has a multipede kit that you could put on the pcb and have Centipede on there as well.

If all else fails, and you must go the mame route, wait until a ---smurfy--- cp shows up on ebay and snag it. Converting an existing cp would be much easier that fabricating your own... unless you are a big metal worker.

Here's a crappy cp from quarterarcade. $30.

It actually isn't even that crappy. If you are patient one will probably show up on ebay for cheaper.

You said that the sound doesn't come on either, right? It may have nothing at all to do with the monitor. It could be the power supply or the pcb. Does the marquee light come on? Are there any other signs of life? Is there any other reason you assume it is the monitor?

Um thats what the dude that I bought it from said it was.  But um I may try to get it going, I just disconnected the power supply when I bought it and but it in the truck, but I might try to get it going, if it's the yeah it makes a noise like power is going threw it, and not sure about the marquees lights cause there was none in it.  I'll try it tomorrow or later on this weekend.
