Zoo Keeper Taito Help
« on: April 08, 2007, 09:54:25 pm »
Hey all

I just got my hands on a 1982 Zoo Keeper by Taito upright arcade machine but it has some problems and I was hoping maybe someone might have dealt with before

The machine was left on a in closed porch for years and was extremely dirty but in good shape none the less
We cleaned it up inside and out and tryed to power it on.
It turns on and the coin door and marquee light up
But the 6 LED test lights that are on the PCB don't go on at all
The screen comes on but theres no words or picture just black
Also theres no sound what so ever

I still need to check all the fuses which is #1 on my list but I was hoping someone might have any other ideas

I have a Joust machine that if I remember correctly had the same problem
I was able to fix that by replacing the power supply
Does anyone think that may be the same problem

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance

Could be power supply or could be wiring....... Stick a meter on the loom and check that you've got good volts on the connections to the board then check the other end and see that there's a good volts supply coming out of the PSU.

First...

Check cabinet fuses. (Solution, if blown replace them)

Second...
Meter the cables and supply.

If, no volts at board end but volts at PSU end then it's a break in the wire loom. (solution, replace wires)

If no volts at either end then its a PSU fault.. (Solution, check PSU fuses, external and on board. If still no go.... then either repair or replace PSU.)

Best Regards,

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

i have no expertise in arcade cabs but had this drummed into me as an apprentice:

                                  ALWAYS CHECK FUSES FIRST (",)

even if you think its not that, check em first before you start pulling things apart...

Cool thanks guys,

See the machine is at my firehouse not my apartment they just picked it up yesterday kind of out of the blue so I had none of my meters or tools to check anything

The next time I go back ill check all the fuses, then the wiring

If anyone else has any ideas what maybe be wrong let me know any and all help would be great
