Which cab do you think is better for MAME?
« on: April 04, 2007, 11:08:27 pm »
I have (I think the original) Double Dragon cab.  I can get a Neo Geo cab very cheap.  Which do you think is better suited for a MAME cab.  Some people thought expanding the control panel on the DD cab will be difficult.  The current width is a little too redtricting, plus I would like to put a trackball and spinner in there.  Any thoughts on either?

If it IS the original cab (drawer on the bottom) like I said in the other post, it would be a shame to cut it up, but if you wanted to skip the spinner and TB, it would make a good fighter mame cab. There isn't any special rounding on the cp or anything, so you can mount a typical fighter setup on some ply and mount it back in the original area..

I haven't put the new bezel in or changed the glass, but I actually fit all the controls I needed for Midway skins  on mine, lol (hey, I was desperate and needed a cab for it, but didn't modify the original cab  :) )

not too small if you are willing to cut and redesign a little.  Most tends to cut into it preping it for a LUCID (can't remember exact spelling) layout and building as big of a control panel box as they want.  Then just seat it right on the cutout area.

I myself have converted a ms pacman into a similar design with a control panel about 34in wide.

Did you at least preserve the art? I'm dying to find a Ms. Pac-Man around here to restore.
