Asahi Seiko ADD-II coin mech
« on: April 02, 2007, 11:42:28 pm »
The Hang-On cab I have uses an Asahi Seiko ADD-II door with ADD-FT coin mech. One side uses a metal coin mech, the other uses a plastic coin mech. I'm guessing the plastic was/is a replacement for the metal since the metal mechanism is sticking a little bit when you push the coin eject button.

I haven't gone into taking apart the coin door mech yet so I don't know what the plastic coin mech model number is.

I figured the first place to try would be on the Asahi Seiko website. Zero information.

Tried Googling it a bit and searching here but mostly found information about the 730-A.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

The reject buttons are mismatched so at the very least, I'd like to get matching replacements for the door.

Thank you for a really great resource, I'm reading some of the articles as I type. But no ADD-II or ADD-FT.

It looks like there was a change to Asahi Seiko sometime after 2003. I see a lot of links on BYOAC that link to a dead site, but subsituting the new URL brings out the page. Maybe Asahi dropped information about their ADD-II. Or maybe the coin mech was imported from Japan? The Asian site has a much larger selection of hardware it seems.

Punch-Out machines, and probably any of the Nintendo cabinets of that vintage or newer, used Asahi-Seiko model ADD coin doors with model ADD-FT mechanisms. Finding out what other cabinets came with the parts you are looking for can sometimes help in finding them.

BTW, if you remove the coin return button and clean the gunk off it, along with cleaning the area it mounts in, it should help with the sticking...it did with mine anyway.

You sure it's not an AD-81P (metal frame) or an AD-81PII (plastic frame) coin acceptor? These are the common ones found in the Asahi doors.

I'm not entirely sure. I don't think so. I went out to take photos to show and I removed the plastic module from the door. I fiddled around a bit and removed the plastic coin mech. I didn't spot any obvious markings other than a test passed sticker so I'm thinking it's a 3rd party no-name el-cheapo replacement.

The metal mech has a small stamp on the inside stating it's from Coin Mech Inc. Browsed around on their website and the modules look like they would fit, but I didn't see what I have.

I noticed that all three stickers state  the device is patented (no number, go figure) so I Googled Asahi's patents and did come up with the metal frame for the coin accepters. There are some slight variations but it is definately the same metal frame. Still looking for the door though.

Based on the commentary it seems like each component is treated seperately. ie, I have the door(s if you count the lower coin box), the mount for the coin mech then the coin mech itself. In that sense, I've completely misworded my original post. I think I'll have to go back and rewrite my question to be a little more clearer on what I'm looking for.

I can take as many photos as you need. Tell me what to take. The three ID stickers have serial numbers, however, is it wise to post photos of the serials here?

I did discover why the metal mech return coin doesn't work. The spring broke.  :'(
