MArch 31, 2007 Belleville IL Superauction RESULTS
« on: April 02, 2007, 11:32:07 pm »
Allroy and I went to the superauctions show in Belleville Illinois this past weekend.  Here are the final prices.  All the machines were working, or at least working for the few seconds they were on for the sale.  None in great cond, they all needed a hug, and 30 days in rehab.

Belleville is located approxamitely 15 miles South East of St. Louis MO.
The final sale prices do not reflect the additional 20% fee added when you pay. The buyer's fee, seller's fee, and taxes add the additional 20%.  There are no parking or entrance fees.  Multiple prices indicate many of the same machine sold.

AC I'm glad you posted the Cabs from Super Auctions cause I'm going to the Milwaukee auction this weekend!  It's my first auction so I'm not sure what to expect or what's in store for me.  I'm looking for some advice.   First of all I'm planning on buying a CAB with working monitor I can Mame.  My goal is to get a CAB that can support a huge CP.  So...

Is bidding at these auctions the same at regular auctions?  Everyone stands around and raises a card to indicate your bid?

Also, am I getting in over my head getting a working monitor in the CAB since I have no experience with monitors?  Are they easy to hook up, etc?

Right now I'm in the process of my first Mame CAB, really just a starter that I have been working on.  A two player CP on a Defender CAB with a 21" CRT monitor.  I successfully wired the CP and am able to play a bunch of games with Mame v.58 (due to slow CPU).  I think I'm ready for an arcade monitor but I want to know what I should look for (ie. burning, scratches, etc.)?

I noticed NBA Jam sold for $100 in ILL this past weekend and I'm wondering if a CAB like that with working monitor will be good for my project.  Anyway, any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Not sure if I should keep this post in your topic or if I should start another?  Guess I'll wait to see how many people reply to my questions.  Cheers!

Just read the Wiki which gave me some good insight but I'm still open to suggestions/comments.  Tx.

They have rows and rows of games.  They will start at one end and snake up and down until all games have been auctioned.  The auctioneer stands on a ladder while 4-6 other people are on top of games pointing and yelling at bidders keeping score.  It's a fun and stressful first experience.  Also note that vendors also bid on the very machines they brought to auction to raise it's price sometimes.  Also, remember that if you win a bid, you will also be liable for the sales tax on that bad boy (forgot about that my first time!).  You get like 2 hours to preview.  Do go.  Many people take flashlights, extension cords, paper and pen.  Also have a quarter hand in case you want to test something not on free play.  Good luck!  Post some results for us as well!

Actually as I was reading the Wiki I was getting really excited just to be in what I'm envisioning as the biggest arcade ever!  The Wiki mentioned everything you stated but I appreciate your insight.  Once again I'm looking for a conversion machine with working monitor so I'm not going to be bidding on any dedicated machines.  But who knows, maybe there will be the coolest game or something that brings back memories and I'll have to get it.  But being my first time I know it will take some take to take it all in!  This is the 2nd auction in 3 months here in Milwaukee so it seems there is good business for the auctioneers here.  Since I only live about 35-40 minutes from the site I should have no problems transporting any CABS I get.  Also a friend who is attending with me is bringing his 18 foot Uhaul style work truck so I can transport everything covered and safely.  I think avoiding the pickup truck is a good idea since the weather will be crappy.  I will try and provide PICS and a list of games being sold but I may be to delusional to remember, ha-ha.  More suggestions/comments or are welcome.  Cheers!

There is usually, as there was at this auction, the "dead row".  I did not post any prices from the dead row.  at this last auction, there were about 50 non-working / crappy cabs.  I bought a non working Teraburst cab (still had monitor and guts) for $35 (total price $42 with the taxes and fees).  I dont have any "monitor fix" skills so can't help you there.

There was an empty pac-mac cab that sold for $75.

The auction is like a giant arcade and it is fun to go even if you dont buy anything.  When you arrive, go check in and get your bidder #, and thats all you need.  if you are planning on buying, bring a truck, rope, some basic tools, flashlight, and, if necessary, a pre-permission slip from your significant other.
