Question regarding U360 config...
« on: April 02, 2007, 08:19:27 pm »
So I am all ready to purchase two U360 sticks for my 2p arcade. Question tho? Has anyone built a panel solely using two of these sticks thru USB? I was thinking and it seems I would require 6 buttons for each player, a 1P and 2P start and a 1P and 2P coin. This leaves me with no shift.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.

Matt  =)

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but how do you do a "shift" button on the U-360?  I thought that was only available on certain keyboard encoders?

Edit:  P.S. Welcome!

Maybe I am misunderstanding as well. But as far as I know the U360 can be installed directly thru USB and wired directly to 8 buttons which are controlled thru the computer mapping software. It appeared to me that the buttons could be mapped any way desired. Would love some more info from someone who's using this stick.  =)

It can definitely be hooked up via USB and connected to 8 buttons.  It is the "shift" portion I am not sure of.

It doesn't do a shift.

If you have to have 6 buttons per player, then I think that you are best off with using another keyboard encoder for all your buttons, and only using the u360's USB interface for the stick.  If you are willing to lose a button or two per player, then perhaps you could have enough admin buttons to not need the extra keyboard encoder.

Thanks Rick. That's basically what I was thinking. I think my friend has an extra Key-Wiz I can steal while he's sleeping. =)

you can always remap the buttons in mame. For example, you can map player 1 and 2 start buttons in the mame UI to exit a game. I don't think it would be necessary to have another keyboard encoder.
