Golden Tee trackball question
« on: April 02, 2007, 03:16:11 pm »
I have recently come into possession of a GT 2002 machine that is non functional.  I'm wanting to MAME it but have a few questions.  Does anyone know if the current trackball (assuming it works) will work with an Omni-pak (sp?), or is there some "better" way to get it working with MAME and my computer.  Thanks for the help.

It SHOULD work with an Omni-Pac.  The trackball has 2 slotted discs with and emitter and receiver U-shaped unit.  As you spin the ball, it spins on rollers that spin the discs, creating spaced signals from the emitter/receiver.  You should be able to hook this to your optipac, as long as you provide a power source to the emitter/receiver unit so it will work.  Maybe the opti-pac provides this power source.  Dunno.

Yes, the optipac provides a 5V connection and ground.  It should work fine with it.
