Hi Score problem on Shutdown
« on: April 01, 2007, 02:25:01 am »
Well I discovered a problem tonght will working on my Tempest replica.

Since it is only one game I am not running a front end.

Here is my problem, if I just press the pc power button the system shuts down but does not save the hi score. If I exit the game and press the power button the Score is saved.

I am trying not to make the shutdown a two step process because I know the kids will not do it right.

Is there a way to run a batch file on mame exit to shut down the pc?  Or is there a fix for the hi score problem?

Thanks

John

nevermind, I think I have a work around.....my brain is fried at this hour.

Will call tempest from a batch file, will put a shutdown command in so when you exit mame the batch file will take back over and shut the system down.

Might put a choice in for the rare occasion that you don't want the system to shut down.

something like system is shutting down. press player 1 start to continue or player 2 start to abort.

The other option is to put the system into, dormant mode with all the hardware shut down... When you then re-apply the power the whole thing should come back in exactly the same state it was in when it was shut down.

Fozzy,

I was using hibernate for a while, I would have problems with it crashing when it came back on. I think the new display drivers fixed that but now I get hung up at a password prompt when comming out of hibernate.

I manage the machine now with remote desktop and if I remove the password remote desktop does not work.

I have the machine set to auto login, is there a setting like this for coming out of hibernation?

Thanks
