returning all mame 32 controls to default
« on: March 30, 2007, 10:57:15 am »
i had some little arcade joysticks from pelican and was messing with alot of controls in mame 32, then i took a break from the arcade project, now that I'm going to finish it, how do I return all of my mame 32 plus in game controls to default, like how they should be for when I use the IPAC4.

Go to the cfg directory and delete the cfg files for the games you want reset.  If you've defaulted controls for all games, then you'll need to look at default.cfg.

i don't quite understand, when I open the cfg file, there are a bunch of games, most of which i likely never changed, and I can't find the games I know I changed, and there is a default, but I don't know what to do with it.

IIRC a config file is created for each game that is opened whether you change the mappings or not.  Just delete all the config files in the folder.  The default config file should be recreated with the original settings when you open MAME.

I think that will also delete any dipswitch changes you made to the games as well, if that's an issue.

Tab Menu - Dipswitch settings - and you can make the game easier or harder, give yourself 5 lives instead of 3, etc.

But if you didn't know about them, no harm in deleting the .cfg files.
