A big favor to ask.... Defender cabinet details...
« on: March 30, 2007, 10:41:31 am »
To anyone willing to do me this huge favor....

I'm in the middle of a scratch build Defender project... I've got everything I need except a few crucial details... I know stuff like this has been asked many many times, but I can't for the life of me find the details that I need... :banghead:

I've checked all of the on-line plans and have not found the following details:

I'm looking for detailed measurements of each metal trim piece.... top and bottom marquee brackets as well as top and bottom bezel brackets.  I would like the cross section view as well.  Since I am having difficulty finding these parts without buying an entire cabinet, I would like to make or find a suitable replacement.

Coin door hole position (for original stainless door)

Cleat positions relative to the front of the cabinet for the monitor bezel and control panel.

Monitor shelf position

Speaker board size and relative position

I know this seems rediculous... I'm hoping somebody has already done this and may have the info scratched on a napkin somewhere  ;)

Either way... Thanks for reading.
Jim

This might help.

Thanks Freeplay... yup I've studied Jakobud's plans... Most if not all plans I've found (including Jakobud's) only cover the side and front detail on a very basic  (but majorly important) level.  Don't get me wrong, his plans are awesome... and I've used them before and would use them for the overall shape of the cab...My only problem is the little the details... like how big the speaker panel is, how do the trim peices and control panel fit, stuff.. like that.

I really need a Defender cabinet... I'm currently scouring my area for one... I think its the best bet.

You might want to do some searching here. A few years ago someone posted photos of the monitor glass cleats and the CP clamps amongst other details. You might be able to study the photos to get an idea what to do.

I have cab in the shop at the moment.  I'll do some measuring and pics when I get in tomorrow and post it tomorrow night (maybe).  I've learned that detailed pics and measurements take a lot longer than I think it will....
