I currently have a happs coin mech that accepts UK currency 50 pence pieces only. I there a way that I can alter or modify my mechs so that they can accept all coins?
The mech you're showing a picture of is an IL universal system mechanical mech. It's a fixed mech.... which is why we don't use them in the arcade. They're popular in the USA when they buy them fixed to take quarters or tokens. Mostly because US currency doesn't change. In the UK we have the problem that every few years, the idiots in charge, change the shape size and materials of our coinage.
The answer to this depends on how you want your coin door and credits to react when you insert a coin.......
If you don't care how many credits you get...... IE you put 50p in you get 1 credit... you put 10p in you get one credit... you put £1 in you get 1 credit.... Then you don't need a coin mech at all. Remove the coin mechs and create a cardboard tube chute that runs from the top of the mech holder to the bottom where the microswitch is. Whatever coin you put in there will then just roll straight down the chute give you a credit and nothing will be rejected.... you can even stick washers in there and get a credit.
If on the other hand, you want to get 1 credit for 50p.... 2 credits for £1 ..... 6 credits for £2... 10 credits for £4.... etc etc etc... Then it gets more expensive. You'll need two electronic mechs, not mechanical ones and a Credit Board to count the coins. If you need more details of that then yell up and I'll post them.
