no kidding.  ::)

I am looking for a local place to just buy sheets of it. Sometimes I am not interested in putting something with art on it and it doesn't make sense to spend 30+ on a sheet of black material like that.

How about quit being an ass and being more specific with your questions.

btp2k2,  by wanting to buy local, do you mean you don't want online? If so, where are you located? If not, there are some online companies that sell it. Just type it in google and they'll show up. I know of one place online that sells them in sheets in different colors and sizes.

I would prefer somewhere that I can buy direct from without having to order....but if I can't do that then I guess I will have to order. I just googled and I don't really see anything that pertains to what I am looking for....a bunch of stuff about bullet proof glass, some floor laminates, something called "Lexguard" (It looks like you but it on windows so they won't break...interesting).

I realize people do not know where I live, etc. and I am not really sure why it was such a big deal. I have seen the whole "Where can I find product X" question asked millions of times, all with educating responses like "Oh yeah, I found something like that in store Y or store Z...Try some cabinet makers, or something like that"....

I mean, someone has got to sell this stuff somewhere right? Arcade control panels cannot really be the only application for this stuff.

If you want black and cheap, why not use vinyl ?

I have considered that, but I want to go with an authentic feel.

I found some sheets that Dream Arcade sells (http://www.dreamarcades.com/partscabparts/blueoverlay.shtml), but they are about an inch too short, they come in 25", I need 26"

Well....at least I have an alternative with vinyl in case I don't find a place to get this ploycarbonate stuff...thanks for the suggestion

you could try emailing mike from dream arcades and ask him if he can cut it to a different measurement. not sure if he'd be able to do it, but he's a cool guy and good businessman, so it's worth a shot. the reason i asked where you lived is b/c 1-for my benefit. i'm in nyc and i could probably direct you to someone. 2-for others' benefits if they're reading this and know of a location near you. wasn't trying to cause distress, just help.

Thanks monkey. I forget that even though guys like Mike are doing this for money, they are also doing it because they enjoy the hobby....I didn't even think about talking to him about getting a bigger size! Duh!!!

And for the record, I know you weren't trying to cause any waves, that comment was directed towards others.

Thanks again for the suggestion...off to email Mike!

Home Depot carries laminate... so does Loews.....  If you're in the US, i'm betting there is one local to you.  Did you look "everywhere" but not look at home stores?   :dunno

I am not sure which product you are looking for, and for that I feel dumb.  Apparently everybody else does.

If you are looking for laminate (like you find on many countertops) then Home Depot or Lowes is likely to have it.  A common name brand of laminate is "formica" and searching for that (either in person at a local store or on-line) should come up with some usefull results.

If you are looking for Polycarbonate, I would try TAP plastics http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/category.php?bid=24&  that is the web site, but they have a Seattle location.  The other search term that could prove usefull is "lexan" the most common name brand of polycarbonate in the States.

Good luck,
Brian
