Anyone know how to set up USB game controls?
« on: March 24, 2007, 02:39:11 am »
My arcade's been running with two U360's and a USB mouse.  I tried adding a USB dance pad to my arcade tonight and now MAME recognizes the dance pad as Joystick 1, thereby screwing up all my MAME control settings.

Anyone know how to configure the controllers in XP so that the dance pad shows up as Joystick 3 instead of Joystick 1?

If you have a joypad device that likes to steal joy1 in mame I don't think there is anything you can do about it. You can try changing the controller ID in the gaming options control panel but it probably won't help. If anyone else has a solution I'd love to hear it.

This is a windows problem.  Mame gets the numbering from the OS.  You could make a ctrlr file with the defaults being player1 uses joy2, etc.  Or just do the normal tab, input (general).
