I know it's the wrong forum, but the right one is so slow, and really need
to know now :)

What does 'the fix is in' mean? I've heard it on several things, from X-Files
to Law & Order....now I need to know

Thanks,

Nicholas

I figure by the usage that it means something fishy has been done to make a problem go away.  Someone pulled some strings..rigged a vote...something like that

I've heard it myself, and the context used always seemed to portray this.

EDIT: Yeah, guess so..

Well, the way I have always thought about it was like this:

You know how people can "fix" games so that a certain team wins?
Or how a boxing match may be "fixed" so that one guy always wins?
Or better yet, how about how the Harlem Globetrotters always win?

That would mean that whatever you are doing, the deal has been made to have a certain outcome occur.

Does that make sense?

That is what an electrician says to you when he is completed fixing your cabinet...
