CP Design Software?
« on: March 21, 2007, 11:53:16 am »
I am using Photoshop to design my CP and it isn't working out very well. Any recommendations for software to use to design my CP? Or designing my cab?

Thanks!

I use CP Sketcher.  It'll give you an accurate layout and measurements to cut your CP.  You can even import your artwork into the background to get a good feel for what your CP will look like when finished.  Google is your friend.

**edit, forgot to mention that CP Sketcher is freeware.  ;D

Heh, until I went with knievel for my CP services, I was just using some posterboard, rulers, pencils, and some erasers. Probably not the most elegant method, but seemed to work well enough.

I used the visio templates off of the arcade controls main page.  I'm not done, however it worked very well to do my design.  I printed it on a plotter, taped it to some cardboard, and now I actually have a working control panel!

adobe illustrator works very well. it's expensive, probably not worth buying just for this, but it's a widely-used program and you may be able to borrow time on a work / school / friend's computer.

my web page (linked in my signature) includes an illustrator-editable PDF file, from which you can grab template elements (look in the "download" section at the bottom of the page).
