UltraStik vs. Happ Competition
« on: March 19, 2007, 03:51:38 pm »
Ok, so after looking through various threads on the forum, I am thinking about this for my 4-player cp:
Players 1 & 2 using an Ultimarc UltraStik
Players 3 & 4 using Happ Competitions

Would it be weird to mix joysticks like that? I don't think the 3 & 4 player seats will be used nearly as much as the 1 & 2 player ones. I am mainly adding the 3 & 4 to play Gauntlet and Ninja Turtles. But, I am reaching my budget limit (actually I'm way over) just looking and figuring out what I am going to buy (I haven't actually spent a dime yet). So, I'm thinking I can save $90 by using the cheaper Competition for the 3 & 4 players and keep really good quality controls for the more used 1 & 2 player controls (Street Fighter II especially)...

Any thoughts or advice on that? Does that sound good? Would it be odd to do such a thing?

Personally I'd think about a J-Stick/Sanwa option to match the look of the Ultrastiks, which are really modified Japanese parts. Then you could match all the balltops (or go bat-top, but more $).

i don't think it's odd to mix. i have a 3-sided cocktail and originally had all bat joysticks. i am now in the process of changing the head-to-head joysticks to ball-top joysticks (the ms. pacman reunion ones). i just realized that it would suit my needs better. it's all about which joysticks feel good, what games you're playing with, etc. cosmetically, i wouldn't worry.
