Do these pictures explain it well enough?

If not, let me know what else you need.

oh yeah, exactly as I thought.
http://newserver.mywwwserver.com/~jstookey/arcade/720/720-joy-apart-2gether.jpg

I need that created to fit on the oscar spinners (The rectangle pice with the hole in it.

I think that could be done witha  round knob too do the spinner is useful.
The joystick part is really easy then.  Just a normal joystick without the buttons and a plastic thing on the end to smooth friction.  Just need to make a mount for it to set ontop of the spinner.  If the spinner had a plate ontop of the cp could make a latching system to hold the joystick down so it is temporary.

Omigosh!  Have you heard?  Mame analog+ was released today and it claims to include 720 analog joystick support!  I'm downloading it now, I can't wait to see it (and the source)!

Yeah, curious then to what he does.

I have a 720 controller that needs serious restoring.  Even though I added the analog joystick hack, I want to get that 720 controller working.  Add when I do, I'll use it instead of an analog joystick.

The 720 controller is more precise, can sense faster movements (not that you can reach the speed of either), and just has that "feel" that an analog joystick can't replicate.

Of course, I've been smiling a little reading all the talk on BYO 720 controller as I was working on the analog joy software hack. ;)

But rooting for you too.  Notice my Q's on Oscar's new encoder wheel?  If I can't fix the controller I got ( :'( ) then I'm going to BMO, too.  Unless Oscar does to the 720 controller as he did to normal spinners, and is doing to the DOT spinner: bringing it to the masses. (Pretty, pretty, please, Oscar?)

I think it is possible.  Just need to make that piece that the joystick shaft goes into on the spinner.  Can uyse generic joystick parts, just need ot make a custom mount for the joystick shaft and gromit.

Oh, yes, it's possible.  Not easy for me to do, though. :P  Tell me how it goes, and I might try too.  ;)

I just need parts :)  Anyone offer to let me borrow some parts?
I can use my spinner to test, I just need another knob, prefereable plastic for now, adn a joystick that might work.

What do you need?  A spinner knob that you can drill holes in and a really long ball-top joystick shaft (kinda like the one on the 720 joystick)?

actually, a small plastic knob would work too, I;d get some sheetmetal and punch something out and glue it one for now too.

Yeah, a joystick shaft and bushing.  Though I'd rather have an entire joystick and dremel away the parts I don't need than add the parts I need.

I'm not sure if this would be any use for you, but maybe it would be perfect...  Anyway, it's garbage to me - I'll send it to you & you can dremel it into dust if you want to.  Just email me your address and I'll mail it out (jstookey@yahoo.com).

http://66.216.68.88/

It's called Package To You and I buy a lot of stupid crap from them.  At some point they lost their domain name, apparently, because now they go by "66.216.68.88" ???

USB barbie mice were $.99 apiece at some point so I ordered 20 of them...  At the time, they also had Hot Wheels USB keyboards for $1.99...  They supposedly suck for keyboard hacks (USB keyboards by design are limited to 6 simultaneous keypresses), but that didn't stop me from using several of them in my control panel.  Also, they had the Hot Wheels USB steering wheels for $10.00 (with pedals and shifters).  I wish I had gotten 4 of them for 4-player Mario Kart.

Anyway, it's a really great feeling to crack those Barbie mice open and put 'em to good use...  Currently I'm using 4 of them - one spinner, two trackballs, and a 720 joystick...  I plan on one day having 4 spinners & 4 trackballs...  (4 player Atari Football must get so lonely out there on the far reaches of Mameland and MAN OH MAN I used to love 4 player Warlords on the Atari 2600).
