The first one will only run at arcade board refresh rates.... the second one also handles PC VGA refresh rates (probably at a maximum of 640X480). Although they don't give a full set of specifications for either of them.

Will they do the job?... depends what job it is you want them to do and what you are trying to connect to them.... you didn't say.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

OK.... Well the first one should be fine for a pre 90's dedicated arcade board. You won't need the additional frequecies offered by the more expensive one.

Why does the first one say it's CGA, but lists 640x480 (VGA) as it's resolution?  You may want to make sure it's a true 15Khz horizontal scan rate arcade monitor.

I checked the specs on these out. The 4808 is an arcade monitor with a 15khz mode.... the 4809 does that and VGA at 640X480.... So it seems that whoever built their website got the specifications wrong.

They ship worldwide as well.... The price for shipping one is not at all bad.

Arcade monitors and PC monitors are slightly different in the way they're described.  An arcade monitor is generally described as 19" when there is 19" viewable... whereas a PC Monitor can be described as 19" (because that's the tube size) and only have 17" Viewable.

You don't generally get to see right to the edges of a PC Monitor Picture Tube. But you do with an Arcade Monitor.

Ah, thankyou.  This is what I was surmising.  With LCDs, they've finally gone to this kind of 'standard' as with arcade monitors, but it seems it would've been smart to do this with both TVs and PC monitors from the get-go.
