I'm beginning to draft together some marquee artwork and am looking to create something flashy.
Here's my idea- I've already got a white flourescent fixture in the back of the marquee area. I've been thinking about adding 1 or more sound reactive neon(actually cold cathode) tubes in that area as well. The fixture I already have is.....18"(i think)
Option 1- (2) x 14" tubes parallel to the existing white light, 1 above, 1 under
Option 2- (2) x 4" tubes, vertical, at each end of the marquee
Since these are sound reactive I want to put one sensor in the marquee itself(where the main speakers are) and one in the base of the cab, where the subwoofer is. Hopefully I'd be able to adjust the sensitivty on each to make them distinctive.
I haven't bought any of the lights yet so my options are still wide open.
So, here are my questions-
1. If the white light in the center is always-on, would that over power the colored lights, or should I wire a toggle to switch between colored/white/both(maybe a 3 way rotary switch?)
2. My color scheme is mainly black with red trimmings, so I might want to keep away from a red neon, again so it doesn't seem overbearing.. maybe blue & green? Maybe white & blacklight/uv?
3. Has anyone found a place that has a good selection, cheap, and reliable shipping/quality. I keep turning up PC-mod sites, which I geuss is what I'm doing. How about automotive kits, would that be any good?
