EmuMovies.com **Your Video Game Preview Resource**

EmuMovies is a project to create a complete set of game previews for different gaming systems. So far I am focusing on console, handheld, and
arcade previews. The main use for these is to replace the standard "snapshot" in a Emulator's Front-End. Compatible with the following Front-Ends:

MameWah
GameEx
3D Arcade
MaLa
Atomic FE
Dragon King
Wah!Cade
Maximus Arcade

By replacing the static snapshot with actual video of the game playing, it really livens up the experience. They are also useful as a Screensaver (i.e. MameWah, MaLa) when your game system or cabinet is idle the game previews cycle making for a great attract mode, especially with the Commercial Set mixed in. No long introductions here as this is an incomplete work in progress release. This is a completely new set and does not include any previously released game previews.

What's New??

- No more mame watermark!
- Includes a complete set of previews with MAME artwork (cropped and non-cropped)
- Horizontal Previews (includes vertical games @ 640x480 w/black bars on sides)
- Vertical Previews (vertical games in their native aspect)

The reason for horizontal and vertical previes is that if you have a horizontal monitor in your cab, video stretching will not affect the vertical games. If you have a vertical monitor set-up the vertical set will work perfectly for you.

Are the non-mame emu's in this set xvid or still divx? If still divx, what was the concensus on the best way to get them to work with MaLa? I missed the end of that debacle and couldn't seem to turn anything up with a search...

The ones on the torrent are still Divx, I have changed the dvd sets to xvids but the torrent has been up for quite awhile now, it was just combined. I have been testing the new beta of Mala that should be released in another few weeks, it fixs the problems with Divx, so you should be fine.

I used a program called batch video converter to convert all of the divx files to xvid.

At the EmuMovies releases page there are links to the torrents but it will link to a different site and you will need to signup an account before you can see them.

I believe it works fine with everything but the newest HiQ sets so you should be fine.

Yep, I upload the nintendo ones to [romsite name redacted] but they do not last very long. And yes I am back to work on the Mame set and just put up the latest ones last night.

One the console sets I only did english games, usually the US versions if applicable. I have complete rom sets for all of the systems that I have done but there may have been improvments in the emulators that have made unplayable games playable since I made the preview pack. So I would say 99% on consoles.
As for the new mame set it is currently .116 #-D complete save for mahjong and jap quiz games. Otherwise if it ran I am able to make a preview and it is complete. I finished E & F over the weekend but I do not plan on updating the torrent until I complete G or maybe even H.

I did all of my sets in 320x240 res with Divx. The HiQ sets are 640x480 encoded with xvid. When using as a screensaver in your front end they look much better.

Do I need Divx to view these? The file extension on them is .avi and WMP won't play them.

All you need is the xvid codec, DivX works but causes issues sometimes.

fyi. .avi files can be encoded various ways.

Xvid is just one of them

FYI,

EmuMovies.com just went down because I finally broke down and paid for my own hosting. So I am retooling the site a bit, integrating blog type news and css styles. Fixing the links and previews since I now have tons of space and bandwidth.

I have lost the site two times already because of relying on friends "free" hosting, and I have not had access to update my site in weeks. So problem solved!!!

I've been away from the torrent scene for awhile, what do you guys recommend for torrent software?

I would like to use something thats non-invasive (ie; adding junk to my pc, adware, spyware, etc)

Any suggestions?

So non-invasive that it doesn't even need an installer (but it has an optional installer version to download if you wish)

It's been pretty good to me.. before this I used to use Bitcomet, but I found utorrent to leave the smallest processor usage footprint, and it's actually very intuitive.

I need to hook up my new monitor first. Kinda good news - bad news. My trusty 19" CRT took a dump today when my cat decided to puke on it and let the smoke out. Grrrrrrr.

However, the wife saved the feline by buying me a new widescreen LCD.

That for posting the details for your lates updated for mame emumovies being #-I.

I have downloaded the first torrent release being: EmuMovies MAME AVI Game Previews HiQ #-D.

Do you have a torrent available for emu movies between E and I? as I do not wish to download the set from #-D again.

Also do you have any other torrents available other then that at [romsite name redacted] with the above? The reason why, is that [romsite name redacted] cancels account if the share ratio of sharing is poor with torrents, and because the emu movie totrrent is so large and not as popular as other torrents, it is difficult to have a good share ratio at [romsite name redacted], and hence administrators cancel accounts.

You help is kindly appreciated.

Those links are to torrents that you do not need to log into to use. Also the emumovies torrents are set to free meaning if you are logged in you get no ratio hit. To resume the mame one just copy all of the old vids to the new directory and then do another hash check. I forgot to use a standard directory name which I will fix on the next update.

And they decided to make one big torrent out of all of my sets to make it easier to keep seeded.

Unfortunatly with the torrent which I have downloaded about two weeks back being: EmuMovies MAME AVI Game Previews HiQ #-D, it has been stuck on 90.2% complete for the past week without movement. And at [romsite name redacted] I have no way to download your new torrent, as it is not available to me when I'm either logged-on as a user (I have been banned because of my poor ratio for the earlier previews which I have downloaded - not completed!) or if I'm NOT logged-on to [romsite name redacted] there are no torrents available to view which you have released?.

Is there another way to get a copy of your new torrent (#-I)? (ie. can you post it here) so that I can have the opertunity to download your new previews (#-I) and future previws you release when released, as your earlier torrent does not work anylonger and I cannot get a copy of your new one at [romsite name redacted].

Just copy over whatever you have, your torrent client will automatically resume. Even partially downloaded files will resume. That is one of the benifits of using torrents.

Circo, man, I owe you big. Someone in the GameEx forum pointed me to this thread (I'd had trouble making my own movies), and I am very, very grateful to them - and to you! My wife and I love the idea of having in-game movies playing verses screen shots, but as I said, had very little luck making them ourselves. Thanks again for sharing!
