« on: March 09, 2007, 11:00:17 am »

Well i finally found the pics for this and now with chad making a horror bartop i saw tok's post of the quake cp i checked klov.com and they had a cab for doom2.  since i have the doomarcade wad (found it for this reason) i want a dedicated doom cab so my question is what kind of cab is it?
Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

That cab was made up (faked) for a movie. Just use whatever cabinet you want.

NO MORE!!

FWIW, it looks like it might be a generic Dynamo.

That's what I was thinking too. Check this out:

Definitely a similar profile if not the same/similar cab. That picture makes it hard to tell though.

Well, Armyguy1975 claims to own the only 1 known in existence. Maybe you should try to get ahold of that guy.

I've seen reference to a version of Doom that has a clock and you have to kill in order to earn more time, like an arcade racing game.

Games in the Quake/Doom family use what's called a .wad file to store things like maps, graphics and other game related information.  Certain games use the wad files a little bit differently. For instance, the Half-Life line uses the format to store textures during map creation. Things like maps, models, sounds etc for Half-Life are stored either in the older pak format or in the new gcf format. In fact, I think the newest gcf stores the wads, I'll have to check.

I don't know exactly which wad he's talking about since a search turns up a couple of potential canidates. But basically you can download .wad files other people create and install them (of sorts) into the game thereby adding new levels, or even entirely new gameplay utilizing an existing engine.

I don't play with the Doom line very much so I don't know how extensive the role the wad file plays. I spend more time with the Half-Life branch.

That is for Doom. Is there a file for a Doom II out there?
