  • I want my own arcade controls!
I just recieved my competition joystick from Happ today, but I'm not 100% sure how to assemble it.  I know where everything goes, but how hard am I supposed to push that square thing onto the bottom of the stick?  And why do I need that "E" ring thing.

Sorry if this post was n00bish, but I couldn't find any information for assembling joysticks.

There is an exploded view of the joystick on happ's website:

Well, you notice how the e ring is below the square accuator in the pics?  It holds the accuatot onto the shaft.  You should see a groove on the shaft for the e ring.

do i have to push that square thing onto the stick pretty hard?  Cause it doesn't seem to be going down all the way.

I'd thjink it'd fit snug, but not extremely hard.  Though I look at oscarcontrol's reviews and I don't see the e ring.

paulkortne,

You must compress the spring with the actuator (square thing) in order to get the E-clip on.

The E-clip keeps it from coming apart.

Don't worry about using too much pressure. These things are made to have hundreds of teenagers abuse them in arcade games  ;)

Seriously, you have to compress it in order to get the clip on.

which is next to impossible to do unless you have something against the stick top while you push the acuator (square thingy) down on the stick, while you force the acuator down with one hand, slip the eclip on with he other, you dont have to get it on the whole way at first just enough to hold it until you can let go of the jstick and it doeesnt fly up in the air, then use a needlenoise plyers to force the eclip the rest of the way on.

hopethat helps.
