Question regarding mounting of Ultrastik 360 long shafts
« on: March 01, 2007, 06:46:22 pm »
Hi,

I got a set of the long shafts for the Ultrastik 360 joysticks. When my co-project worker went to install them he found that the extra length is below the mounting plate. The shafts don't seem to stick out any further from the top side of the joystick mounting plate. Also, with the long shafts installed, there is slop in the spring so that the spring is not held vertically under tension at all. This was not the case with the original length shafts. Everything points to an issue with either the way we are trying to install the long shafts or an issue with the manufacturing of the shafts?!?! As it stands now, I don't think you can reattach the PCB on the bottom while keeping the long shaft installed.

Is there a shim that is missing that I need to raise the long shaft higher? Is my coworker installing them incorrectly somehow? Am I making any sense here?!?

Thanks for your help!!

To update... Andy emailed me and it looks like I am missing a collar that goes on each shaft that should resolve the issue.  ;D

Thanks!
