I use that button. You just have to edit it a little bit, that's all. That is probably something we can bring up with SirWoogie to get fixed.

Just don't use spaces.

Ah. Saw that when it was fairly new. Didn't like it much. I deal with those idiots 9 hours a day in real life... they're not entertaining to me, I want to throw them off a building and kick them from windows on the way down.

I'm with Scott on this one. It isn't real easy to find the correct way to make the shortened URLs in the help on this forum.

On a side note, Scott, why the dislike of Delta tools? Or is it just their junk Shopmaster line that you don't care for? I've always felt my Delta tablesaw was on par with the equivalent Jet model.

At other forums I've used the 'Link' button in the toolbar prompts you for both the URL and the display text, which makes it really easy...

It's just the low-end junk. Delta makes many good tools. My Delta TwinLaser compound miter saw is one of my favorite tools. And my Delta 50-760 dust collector works very well when I'm not asking it to do the work of a 3HP cyclone dust collector

But the Shopmaster line and some of their other low-end stuff is only slightly better than Harbor Freight... based on what I've seen.

Don't know if it's chain wide or what, but at my local Sears, they have a few routers in the clearance shelves. Some were as low as $35. Not a PC or DeWalt but a strong tool at that price for sure.

Saw that router/table combo too. The table is pure crap, complete crap, like PVC lawn furniture but half as strong. I'd be afraid to use it. 1/2" fiberboard top, mitre gauge very sloppy.

I'm not sure if this applies to everyone but at Amazon I used 20OFFJUN to hack 20% off the Incra Miter 5000... plus free super saver shipping so it was $240 shipped. Whoot! (Much better than $300 plus shipping and tax from Rockler, or at least tax if I went and picked it up.) I now have a full size "contractor's" saw so I'm looking forward to getting this... I bet it whoops my old home made crosscut sled on the old 22" deep table that my old saw had, LOL.

just fyi...those aren't noise cancelling...they are noise reducing...

i own a pair...they are awesome...but don't think that they are the electronic kind that create an out of phase signal to cancel out the wavelength of a loud noise...

Yeah, there was a thread on woodnet about that... I don't really care myself as I just needed a reasonable set at a good price. Silence would actually be bad as I tend to have to keep an ear out for approaching kids. I do my cutting in my yard.

Would you say this is a good deal, and because it's so cheap, is it a good one?

Welcome.

Looks like it would be capable of doing MDF work, certainly. I wouldn't want to be working in hardwood with it, especially with a 1/4" collet, but it's probably cool for the usual arcade cab building.

If you're willing to wait around and keep an eye out, you can get a top quality router for about twice that when the right sale comes along.

We plan on building the cabinet with birch plywood. How would it work on that? I hate to spend too much since the only reason for the router is the cabinet.

Keep in mind you can rent tools, if necessary, and you can also easily sell a good tool and get much of your money back.

With power tools, you often get what you pay for. A high-quality plunge router would probably cost 2-3X more. For an arcade cabinet, you may find that you need a fixed-base router just as much as a plunge router. I own both and find that I use my fixed-base routers about 90% of the time...

When buying cheap tools, I prefer to buy locally from a store that has a liberal return policy. That way, if the tool turns out to be a piece of crap I can easily get my money back!

Which isn't to say that the B&D router you've selected won't get the job done. The routing needs of most cabinets can easily be met with a 1.25HP router. Unlike Chad, I use 1/4" shank router bits quite often and have never had any problems. Granted, I'm using a $300 German-made router that has minimal vibration and zero runout along with high-quality Whiteside router bits...

In my experience, rental tools are a pretty mixed bag. Many of the rental tools I've used were so beat up they barely got the job done...

Yeah, there is the rental condition issue. And I use exclusively 1/2" bits because I don't own any 1/4" bits... mostly just the Holbren set we all got.

Could be the best solution is to wait on a decent sale, buy the tool, use it the few times and then sell it and recoup most of the sale price.

Anyone looking for a decent circular saw...I saw these is Lowe's today on clearance for $69.

They normally run $94.97 and are currently online @ $87.98.

The clearance was in Round Rock, TX...not sure if it is nationwide, but it may be worth a call to Lowe's to find out.
