Wiring and schematics of U360

What is the best way to wire the U360? Open ended question I know, but read on...
I have a Keywiz and the wires to hook the U360 to an encoder. I want to be able to play 49 way games such as blitz and maybe some N64 emulated games, but also 8-way games on mame and other emulators.
I'm not sure how to make it work on all levels, but still take control of the shazzam key? Can I wire my buttons into the encoder and just have the joystick control into the USB. then if I play a game and the PC thinks the joystick is a gamepad, will the pc still except keyboard strokes/encoder for gameplay? I hope someone can follow my problem.
Thanks

I think what I need to do is hook my U360 via USB and then wire all my buttons into my Keywiz, this will allow for the most functions and flexibility of my control panel.
any other thoughts?

You might want to look at the instalation instructions on Ultimarc's website.
http://www.ultimarc.com/ultrastik_inst.html
Look at the section labeled "Use of the 10-pin I/O port (Optional)". This will tell you the full capabilities of the I/O port. To get the full capabilities of the maps you must plug in the USB cable.
For what you want then you have the correct idea.
U360 -> USB
Buttons -> KeyWiz

If you connect U360 to USB then you can connect buttons directly to U360 and then PC see buttons as gamepad buttons.
If you PC must see buttons as keyboard keys then yes, you must connect buttons to encoder.
