Star Wars score!
« on: April 07, 2003, 06:49:58 pm »
Hey all. I just had to share my exciting news. I found a Star Wars upright listed in the classified for $500. I called and asked about the conditon and he said the it was in "crappy" condition (literal quote) and that it didn't work. Well, I just had to see it for myself and it was exactly as he described. There was some major water damage along the bottom. The front wood panel wasn't even attached as it stuck out from the bottom a few inches. The marquee area was disassembled but seemed to be complete. The artwork was in pretty good condition. Surprisingly, the game fired up but the bottom half of the screen was compressed into the middle. Anyway, I'm pretty good at woodworking and I think the monitor is an easy fix so I offered $250 delivered and they took it. Yippee! I'll get it in a couple of days.

Anyway, considering its condition, did I get an ok deal?

Hey, sounds like a deal to me. I've seen them go for more. Besides, if you like it, then of course it's a deal!

This is a link to a monitor repair page.  Your problem should be easily fixed for about $20.00.  Good luck.

Congrats!

That used to be one of my all time favorites.  Nothing quite like the look of real color vector graphics and analog controls :)

I hope you succeed in restoring it.

Thanks for the info and encouragement guys. Yeah, I got it this afternoon and man this thing is beat. It'll take a while to bring this thing back to pristine condition. I'll have to take pics and document the progress. No Maming this puppy. Instead of Star Wars Reconstruction, I think I'll name it Star Wars Resurrection.  :)

SWEET Deal if you can fix it!  They are going for about 1000 bucks on ebay without shipping!

But don't sell it... it will only go up in value!

GOOD LUCK!
