Speaker impedance measuring meter

Just saw the latest flyer from MCM Electronics (www.mcminone.com) and they've got that nice little # 72-6947 Digital Speaker Impedance Meter on sale again at just $149 until March 16th. Mention "Source Code 702R14" to get the sale price.

Pretty handy device to have. Are the speakers you just bought really 8 ohms? This tester will tell for sure. I've seen new speakers advertised as 8 but were certainly not 8 ohm. Makes a big difference when connecting multiple speakers.

All you have to do is use a ohm meter and a multiplication factor. Matter of fact impedance is based on frequency.

Speaker impedance usually goes all over the place around the poles of the crossover, and in the case of typical crap car speakers with no crossover the impedance is often way lower then quoted up in the higher frequencies (a junk "5 way" pioneer 6x9 a mate tested went to below 2 ohms)

That meter only tests at 1kHz, so is of limited use in my opinion.
