my Mini-pac and Spintrak Controller experience and a question
« on: February 24, 2007, 11:29:39 am »
Just wanted to put this out there for anyone else that might be using these. Firstly, it is not my intent to bad mouth Andy from Ultimarc as his product has worked great and his customer support seems second to none. I received my items quickly and even when a minor mistake was made on the order, once I emailed Andy and notified him of it he took care of it immediately at no extra cost to me. I had the CP built and wired but I could not get the spinner to work. It took me a few days, but I figured it out (I am a little slow!). The harness I received for the Mini-Pac has a separate prewired 4 pin connector for the the Spinner interface. I went to Andy's web site and found a wiring diagram for the spinner and the Mini-Pac. I noticed that none of the 4 wires on the mp connector matched the diagram. I removed them from the connector and reinstalled as per Andy's diagram and all is right and works as advertised. Below is the wiring as it is suppose to be.

Mini-Pac Connector:
4. Brown-  GND
3. Green
2. Blue
1. Black- +5V
The connector on the spinner to Opti-PAC (Mini-Pac):
Brown    +5Volts
Yellow    X1
Green    X2
White    GND

Mine in order was.
Mini-Pac Connector:
4. Black
3. Brown
2. Green
1. Blue
The spinner connector to the Mini-Pac was correct and as listed above.

I have not notified Andy and was wondering if the group thinks I should? It is resolved and I think nothing less of the product, but maybe Andy would want to know so he can do a QA  on the rest he might have or be getting in the future. Or maybe this info is already somewhere and I haven't found it so there is no issue.

FWIW, this same thing caused me much grief, as documented here:

I did mention it to him after I discovered the problem, however. . .
