UK Arcade Cabinet Clearance. NOW WITH PICTURES!
« on: February 20, 2007, 09:10:22 pm »
Hi Guys.... This has not yet gone into Buy Sell Trade, because at the moment it's hypothetical.

Prompted by me, my boss is trying to determine if there is a market, here in the UK, for the arcade machines that we remove from the arcade,. With that in mind we are currently about to dispose of two machines.

Both are currently in use and maintained by yours truly.... So they are in full working order and reasonable condition.

If we find him sales for these machines, then there will be more cabinets and complete machines. Maybe even some 80's classics!!

SO! first up we have a "Silent Scope 2, Fatal Judgement"  and second up we have an upright cabinet "House Of The Dead 2" up for grabs... These are both currently in use and in full working order, with very good monitors. The one in Silent Scope has just been replaced! so it's in damned good condition. The House Of The Dead upright has recently had new gun boards fitted and there may even be a couple of spare guns lurking in storage.

So! if you're in the UK and you're interested in these machines and can offer a sensible price, please PM me and we can see if it's practical.

If I don't find buyers at a price he's happy with they'll probably end up rotting in a field!!! and I really want to avoid that happening to these nice machines.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Me either, but I know many people like this.

Good work Fozzy - I hope you can find a buyer. Silent Scope is a fun game.

It's never made sense to me either.... and as far as I'm concerned is a complete sin! which is why I'm trying to find good homes for these machines. I'm fed up of seeing perfectly working, nice condition, arcade machines leave and get badly stored and trashed like this.

Selling them on seems to be a bit of a new concept for my boss. He's never done it before. I almost cry when I think of the real classics that have gone that way before.

Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

How much is a reasonable price??

On the other hand are they not now supposed to be disposed of in a correct fashion? Weee compliancy for computer equipment and all that?

That being said I will happily take them both of your hands if he is willing to pay me say £100 :) and I will provide a certificate to say that the equipment has been disposed of correctly, after all we would not want any potential legal issues in regards to dumping would we now?? :D  :laugh2:

OK! Chaps!!

This is no longer a hypothetical case...... As of tomorrow morning the two arcade machines will be in my garage, and up for sale.

They are both in very good working order and the external condition is very nice! There are only very very minor scuffs and marks, The side art on both of these machines is as near mint as you're going to get on a second hand cabinet. The marquee headers are in very very good condition and everything works as it should.

Both machines come with electronic coin mechs and credit boards set for UK currency. All the keys are present and correct.  The "House Of The Dead 2" machine comes with two guns and possibly some other spares. "Silent Scope 2"  is just a great machine all round..... Very clean!! Monitors are perfect! on both machines, no screen burn that I can see. The Silent scope one is a nearly new Hantarex Polo 2 Multisync, perfect if you want to gut it out for a mame cab.

I'm offering them on here first, so that you guys have the chance to grab them...... as for the price, it's up to you to make an offer. If I get no interest on here, I'll e-bay them. So now is your chance!

If we can shift these two quickly, I know he has some other very Mameable cabinets that (finally after a lot of hassling him) he may well part with at silly money!

So come on chaps.... If you want these machines for your collection, PM Me.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

It's kind of strange that it's usually me who's saying that I wish I were on your side of the pond, with all the good deals you get. The irony of that is not lost on me... LOL

All of the HOTD games are good sellers. Even the first one gets way more than average for its age. I was looking for a shooter cab a couple years ago, and couldn't even find a HOTD 1 that I could afford.

Sorry dude

No worries! thanks for trying...... The thing is if we can move these, then my boss will release a whole barnfull of classics to buy cheap!! I know he's got several PAC cabs, space invaders, R-Type, Centipede etc etc and at least 1 possibly 2 Star Wars environmental cabs... along with an original Afterburner and a raftload of generic cabs that would be good for mame use. A lot of stuff with stripable parts as well. Coin Mechs, Monitors, Guns and tons of other stuff that he just considers to be junk!

I have to convince him there's a market out here, before he'll part with it.

Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

I'm out of the running based on space.

Having said that, I really do think it would help if you added:

PICS of the cabs
Specs - what size and res monitors?
Rough price guide
Rough location/nearest town (cornwalls quite large).

You'd think he would've started with something a little smaller/ easier to push on the home market. The silent Scope takes up alot of room, and is expensive. Not alot of people would want that one.

I dunno I would love to have that AND HOTD but there is no way I can afford either right now AND I don't have the space.

However if I did buy them I would probably gain a lot more space as the girlfriend would probably move out  :laugh2:

although even though my cabinet is not finished by a long way but it is playable she has racked up more hours on it then me so far  :dunno

there is def a market for cabs to be converted to MAME

PICS of the cabs
In progress.... I will add some pics in the next day or so.
Specs - what size and res monitors?
Will sort that out with the pictures..
Rough price guide
Impossible... Because even I don't know the answer to that one.... All I can do is take offers and take them back to him.
Rough location/nearest town (cornwalls quite large).
Ermmm actually, Cornwall's not really that big.... But I live in a small village just outside of Hayle, near Penzance.

OK Chaps!! Here are the pictures of the HOTD2 Cabinet.... as you can see it really is in exactly the condition I described to you....  The guns on HOTD2 are LCD Type and not light guns, which makes them very accurate and reliable.

If you're stripping these machines for parts then as I said, the monitors are absolutely excellent condition. The coin mechs are modern electronic type, with credit boards and you can set the price of play to whatever you want. At the moment both machines are set to 50p Play.

HOTD2 would certainly be a mameable machine, with the addition of a CP.

Monitors on both cabinets are 28" Hantarex Polo2 (26" visible).

I'll post some pics of Silent Scope2 later today.

Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

Im in Kent so a bit too far to travel

 :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I drove 2000km for two of my cabs.... non stop!!! Melbourne to Sydney and back. I left home at 10am drove for 3 hours. broke down, got towed home, left again in another car at 5 pm. Drove till 2.30 am. Slept in the back of a trailer just North of Canberra (1 Degree C) Woke up covered in frost. Shook the ice from my hair. Drove to Sydney and arrived at 7 am. Picked up 1 cab. Drove another hour, picked up second cab, then drove straight home. Arrived home 9.30 pm.

and KENT is too far from CORNWALL.  :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I have driven that too.... I can't recall thinking that was a long drive
If it ain't broke give it to me...i'll soon fix that

They can be shipped if you don't want to drive that far.... To be honest it's not that bad a drive, I've done it in 4 1/2 Hours.

If anybody wants them shipped I can get firm quotes... I'd guess about £80 to £90 each to anywhere in the UK.

Hi Guys..... OK my boss has finally given me the e-bay start prices.... That's not to say that these are the prices they will go for, but it at least gives you something to base your offers on.

The start price for the "Silent Scope 2" cabinet will be £300
The start price for "The House Of The Dead 2" £450

These are pretty good considering that the machine dealers still have these listed second user at over £1000 each and not usually in this good a condition.

Julian (Fozzy The Bear)

is when you dont drive and i cant see me getting one of those on a National Express Coach

I could be interested in 3/4 old cabs that had nothing in for a MAME project for me and a few mates as I have a friend with a van so there could be the posibility also to pick up and deliver others if they are wanted as long as they were on route for a diesal donation
