Anyone know where to get a multi-jamma card?
« on: February 20, 2007, 09:08:15 pm »
Anyone know a place that sells the multi-jamma cards?  I have sent at least 10 e-mails to multigame.com over the last 2 weeks and have yet to get a reply.  I think the site my no longer be in service as most of the info posted was back in 02' and my e-mails never get replied to.

Still working on getting the parts I need for my 8 PCB fighting cabinet project that i'm trying to get done before summer.

Keep an eye out here and on RGVAC ... I have seen 3 or 4 sets up for sale in the past few months, with two sets here, IIRC.

Post a WTB is each place.

I found mine here.

Don't expect to hear from Clay, especially after only 2 weeks (Clay time is not quite the same as normal time).

There are also some alternatives, with the most obvious being Mike's Double JAMMA Adapter:

Cheers.

Thanks for the tip I just posted a want add.  Not sure what the deal is with this clay guy, but he really needs to get some distributors.  I get worried if I don't reply to customers e-mail in 1 day.  I can't image how he manages selling anything avoiding customers for several weeks.  Heck just put up ebay adds or something it's not  that hard to put a few pieces of equipment in a box and getting paid!!

Of course, he has to actually make the cards first ... and it isn't his real job, so things slip. Seems to happen a lot with guys doing speciality kits for dedicated equpment.

As for multigame.com, I notice that the site was last updated yesterday.

Cheers

Looks like i'm not the only one he's blowing off.  I found this post online and at least 10 guys are furious with this person.  Seems like he is in way over his head and refuses to hire some help to satisfy his customers or at least just allow someone else to take over distribution on the product.  I can picture him working alone in a basement trying to do 100 things at once and because of it only getting 1-2 things done a day.

Thanks for the update.

Seems like the site was update with:

"Note: (2/20/2007) Update!

Due to a family emergency, I will be out of contact for a few days.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

-Clay"

Granted it's not his main job and he probably still has to make them if he can't keep up with supply and demand just sell the technology, cash a big fat check and let somoene do it right.

Like they say work smarter not harder.

That's nothing. If you want horror stories check RGVAC.

If I were Clay, I would probably hang it up as it probably isn't worth the aggravation for him.

As for letting someone "do it right" .. if there was a lucrative market, somebody would have. There are alternatives to Clay's kit, but other than Mike's, they seem to be harder to find.

He did make some cool kits and helped a bunch of people along the way, though.

Cheers.

I looked at mike's but I wanted at least 4 boards not just 2.

I think there is a market available, but for 1 person to manufacturer, sale, ditribute, and market it just a nightmare.  I couldn't imagine having to work that hard.  I think if he focused on manufacturing and let somoene distribute, market, and sell them it would work.  A lot of times products fail not becuase they are not good products in demand, but becuse they are sold like a cornor lemonade stand.

I think if these where available on ebay and oversees he would be selling 20+ a week world wide.

I have a "multi-board" cab.  The 12v and 5v came from the PS to a "power switch", then back to each individual JAMMA harness.  To change games, I pull back the CP, and flip some switches.

Really?  I was under the impression that they would ALL run at the same time and there was a toggle button to switch between them.  Did you wire it that way to avoid having to run extra power?  I think it may be a good fit for my cabinet as I have the entire CP on a drawer that slides in and out.

From what I can tell, on my machine, the 12v and 5v were split into 2 wires each.  Each set of wires were attached to a three posistion switch.  Then there were sent back to each board.

out--\          ON #1
IN ------       OFF
out --/         ON #2

In order to turn on game #1, put the switch up; down for #2.  Neutral would still keep power to the monitor, but nothing to the boards.  I have two switches, so I have 4 boards total.  I plan to re-wire the thing and will take pictures.  Shoot me your e-mail so I can try to show you what is going on with it right now.  The wiring is a giant cluster right now.
