Thanks again for everything guys!

So I had bought and AGP card with which I did not have a AGP slot. DOH!

Then I went and bought a cheapy PCI (Ati rage 3D II+ ) card that ended up being 10 years old and did not support Direct 3D. DOH!

So my track record here is not so good. I've been gettings different advice and I don't want to spend another dollar unless you are sure this is going to work for me this time.

Below is the stats on my computer...

Insignia Personal Computer. Intel(R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.88 GHz, 758 MB of Ram. Windows XP.

There is no AGP nor a PCI Express.

I want to hook the card to the TV in my cab so I need S-video out.

I would like to be able to play MK and Killer Instinct which I have been able to do with my on board video.

Please post a link here to a hopefully low cost card that will work for me. I do not care if its on ebay or some stores site. If it is on Ebay please specifically say your maximum bid for the item.

Thanks again in advance.

If there is no pci-e or agp, the only other choice you really have is a PCI card.  It shouldn't be too hard to find a semi decent one in your price range.  If you go to like newegg.com or buy.com  you should be able to filter by type.

Here is one I just looked up really quick, but it only has a dvi and s-video connection.

Here is a vga and s video one

Wow, that's a pretty modern computer to not have an AGP or PCIe slot.

I thought the same thing, but then remembered Dell sells business/network type pc's that do not have a graphics slot.

As a mater of fact that is where this computer came from. I just upgraded at work and yanked this one for my cab. Didn't anticipate the graphics card problem.

I purchase those low end dell systems with integrated intel cards. I add a PCI card from either Nvidia or ATI. I just make sure the card doesn't have a fan. It usually costs around $30-$50.

Not that this answers your question, but if it makes you feel better I did the same silly thing.  I bought a sale price AGP graphics card for my cabinet only to realize later I only had PCI-e slots.

I went to take it back to Best Buy and even though it was only 1 day past the stated 30 day return policy, they refused to even give me store credit for it.  Grrr.   :banghead:

The most uptodate regular PCI card that I can find is an ATI 9250.  Find a real ATI card as opposed to an non ATI card as the real ATI cards are more up to spec.  The 9250 is a Radeon card with recent drivers and 256mb video memory.  I use a 9550 ATI card with radeon catalyst drivers and it works quite well for TV out.

As said in another post to the same thing.  Just go to ebay and purchase a pci card of the following:

Radeon 7500 - Yes, the 7500 works flawless as I have one running to a rca tv.
Radeon 9000
Radeon 9200
Radeon 9250
Radeon 9550.

AVOID anything NOT radeon 7500 or above.  AND DONT buy the geforce cards, they might work but most have sad that the tv out don't look very good.

They all should work fine for your setup.  They can be had for about 25 bucks shipped.  If you don't have time to wait, I would suggest bidding 30 bucks and pretty much guantee U one.

I used to use a creative graphics blaster (geforce 2 clone) and never had any complaints about the tv out quality, think it was the last pci card I ran aswell

Not unless you forgot to type the 'e'.  :)
Maybe provide a link to the auction so we can verify.

Any reason for "No Fan"?

Card of these age and speed don't run very hot so no fan is common.  As long as it has a nice big heatsink, it will take care of the heat pretty well.

That Dell case isn't expecting a bunch of extra heat from a vid card.  It's likely designed with only one system fan, hooked to an air duct over the processor- and that isn't designed to exhaust the heat from a hot vid card.  Cards with fans tend to be cards that make a lot of heat.

Also, fans are noisy, and noise sucks.  :D
