I wanted to check and see if there would be some interest in a contest for new artwork for Dream Arcades?

I’d be looking for a Marquee, Side-art and CP overlay; although all could be the same (or a variation of the same) design.

The grand prize would be fairly big. I’m thinking a cocktail kit without the electronics. Last time we ran a contest for a logo we had some good entries, but some of the really talented members chose not to enter.

I just wanted to gauge the interest on the board.

If I weren't already so intimidated by my current project's artwork I would probably be jumping on this...

I may jump into it either way  :P

What are the specifications on the kind/theme of artwork you would want?  Is there a specific personality/identity you would want to present, or is it a free-for-all?

I'm game. I was disappointed that I didn't have time to submit anything to the logo contest.
Brevity is not my strong suit.

Hi Mike.
One question.....can participate any person of any country? Or it´s only limited to U.S.A. residents?¿?¿
I say it, 'cause the prize is so big and only can be delivered to people who lives in the U.S.A., and if it's possible for the people overseas the USA, as me, that I'm from Spain to participate.

Kind Regards.

I could offer a cash prize as well. Say $200, the winner could take his/her pick.

Also, you could pay the difference in shipping from the US to your country. For the UK it would proably be less than $100.

I've gotta chime in here now. This seems to be a rather poor compensation for so much custom graphic work done for a company which proposedly stands to make thousands of dollars off of said custom artwork and designs.  An empty cocktail cabinet or $200 for a marquee design, and a CP design, AND side art design doesn't seem to equate to be a fair trade for this, at least not in my eyes.

If you were an individual looking to do this for himself, I'd be on board 101% with absolutely no regrets. I think my reasoning is clear as to why more of the professional artists and designers haven't openly responded to this thread.

This isn't meant as a slam on you in any case, bythe way. Just stating facts of things as how I precieve them to be.

I want everyone to feel free to post and I appreciate your post motorfish.

I'm not going to make $1,000's off of it. It's going to be part of our current arcades. Also, there's a lot of guys out there selling cabs and margins in this business are slim.

If we had the cash to hire a design firm or something like that we would. I'm really just looking for a good design to put the Dream Arcades Logo on. One design would work fine for all three (CP, Overlay and side-art).

I'm seen some great designs from member for $50 or less. So, I figured $200 was fair and is what we can afford.

That being said at one time I built cabs for fun, so I know where you are coming from.

I'd appreciate any constructive criticism from any other members on this as well.

I'd love to participate.  Though I have no chance of winning I find it fun to try.  I'm not sure if you've seen Lord Hiryu's stuff before but it's seriously impressive.  Of course there are other uber talented guys here as well.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.
