Some one Please save this Discs of Tron cabinet !!!

It looks to be in very reasonable condition...  If it was in the UK and not in the US I'd leap at it. No way could I afford to ship it over here  :(

Too far for me. At least it's been totally stripped: some other Tron machine will live again!

Same here...too far....or i'd go save it.

Is he suggesting that the $60 pallet fee is the ONLY shipping cost?   Or it would be $50 + $60 + Shipping?   For $110 I MAY consider it (aside from the whole wife kicking ---my bottom--- thing that is).

I live all the way out in California. I'd hop on the chance, but I'm really short on money this month. No way can I afford the $110 for the cabinet right now :(

Too bad we don't have people living closer to Kansas and just hand off the cabinet in the next state over to get it where it needs to go.

Looks like the $60 is for him to strap it onto a pallet, so probably $50 + $60 + Shipping.

Looking at the graphics and comparing to KLOV it is the upright reg cab not the environmental cab so at least the cab is all there.

Seriously? I mean... This cabinet probably needs another couple grand worth of restoration. I think this one is too far gone unless you already had all the parts and needed a cabinet. I'm sure if you wanted to mame it - you might be able to get away with a lower cost.

A brave soul with deep pockets would be needed to take on this project.

I was thinking that since the cab was already gutted, it wouldn't make much sense to try and rebuild it into a Tron cab again.I'm thinking $50 is probably a good deal over building a similar cab given design time, parts and labor.

$50 for a generic empty cab is a even a good deal, the lumber cost alone is worth it, not to mention the hours of labor to build it.  getting a classic cab like DOT with good condition artwork makes this an awesome deal.  I would jump on this cab if it was local.

Who says he's interested in it...... for all you know he might be planning to use it as a rabbit hutch and might not give a damn that it's a DOT cab. In any case, it's none of our business what he does with it.

A couple grand to restore?  Are you going to pay a callgirl to do it?  A few hundred, maybe, if you wanted to buy fulling working strong condition parts.  You could do that without a ton of cost if you already had a monitor and had some decent sources for everything else.

Did you see the cabinet? You think you can restore a discs of tron for a few hundred?

I should've bought you the cabinet and had it shipped to you so you could fix it up and then we could resell it on ebay and split the money. You can be my callgirl.

I did see the cabinet, it was in decent shape, just empty.  Are you talking about restoration to original new condition?  The artwork looked pretty acceptable to me as is, if you throw that in, yeah the cost goes way way up.

It could be me. It seems a DOT up/down spinner, Tron stick, boards, monitor, interior artwork, blacklights, marquee, electrical, and anything else needed to restore it would be expensive.

I would want a cabinet like that, but I wouldn't want to mame it. It's a catch-22 cabinet.

That's the kicker - a lot of that stuff wouldn't be that hard to find relatively inexpensively if you were both patient and had decent sources.  I tend to be really patient on these things and just keep an eye out for the parts.  I guess most people don't want to take 18 months to restore a cab.   ;D

A callgirl will generally do almost anything you want.  I'd expect a callgirl to be relieved that you only wanted her to work on a cabinet.   :laugh2:

A couple grand to restore?  Are you going to pay a callgirl to do it?  A few hundred, maybe, if you wanted to buy fulling working strong condition parts.  You could do that without a ton of cost if you already had a monitor and had some decent sources for everything else.

Roger that..  For example..

About $300.... and that's just after 5 minutes of non-bargain hunting ..  ;D

Well... the thing sells for quite a bit. Sounds like you should've bought it, fixed it up, and resold it.  ;)

I wish... living in Western Australia narrows down sensible arcade acquisitions a bit!!!  ;):)

There's actually a site that has stuff like that.  The guy makes 'em special.  Just in case, no this isn't spam.  I never would've thought down this path myself.

Well i bought the cab. I have the Marquee, harness, working board set, bezel. I have the guts for the CP but will still need to get a CP and CPO. The DOT cab these parts came from except for the bezel which i got from Quarterarcade fell apart some time back. Too much water damage im afraid.. :(
When i get the cab delivered i will take pics of the progress as it goes.

Cool, it's good to see sombody with good motives got this cab.  Well I guess I don't actually know your motives, but it doesn't sound like you were shoping for firewood.

Congratulations on your new cab.

I have a Tron CP that I would be able to sell.  I don't recall how different a DOT CP was from Tron.  Any ideas?

If you are interested, please send me a PM.

I have an empty DOT CP that I would sell. Not sure what it's worth though. It will need a new cpo of course. Will post pics if needed.

Here are the pics. If it wasn't for the strip on the bend missing the cp doesn't look that bad.

It really doesn't.  It would be worth trying a paint job on that spot just to see how it looks before stripping it.

It's worth whatever somebody is prepared to pay for it.

In this case it can't exacly be described as mint.... so it's not a collectors item. What you're selling is a bent piece of sheet metal with some holes and a badly damaged piece of artwork that effectively needs replacing..... Figure it out for yourself, we ain't talking mega bucks here.

Well i am back from all my trade shows and have finally got a chance to look the cab over. Isnt bad shape, will need some repair to bottom 1/2" of cab but nothing i havent seen before in Midway cabs like this. Any chance other DOT upright owners can take pics of how the monitor mounts would be greatly appreciated.

I would pay $50 for that CP if thats reasonable get back with me on it. Been testing the marquee to see if it fits and the bezel appear to line up perfectly. Still confused as my bezel appears to match the inner artwork of this cab but the pics of the bezels on KLOV dont match what i have.

I will take pics and post as i get further along with the project. So far the three black lights work and the marquee light still works.
