perfect 360 and Dreamcast PLEASEHELP
« on: March 28, 2002, 08:14:06 am »
I am trying to hook the Perfect 360 to dreamcast also. At first I thought there was no 5v lead on the dreamcast joystick so I hooked it up to a computer power supply. I ran into problems. You know the ground wire that is on the dreamcast pad for the joystick controls, Ididnt knwo what to do with it because I used the ground and the +5v on the 360 to get power from the power supply. When i turned on dreamcast the jostick worked but erractivly i think because the ground wire on the dreamcast isnt goin anywhere, Anway have you found a spot for +5v on dreamcast maybe then this wil work, Please help. Or do you know what i can do with the ground wire on the pad for I am using the ground on the joystick to get power from the supply.

Yes the DC controller uses +5.  Pin 2 (blue wire) is +5 coming into the controller.  Pin 3 (black wire) is ground.  More info here http://mc.pp.se/dc/controller.html.   I'm sure by using a multimeter you can find other spots to solder to (besides where the controller wire connects to the controller pcb).

Your right about it Being 5v that worked the only thing is the joystick is still goin crazy. It autimatically scrolls though all the menus. Its like a holding on up by itself or right or down. They all go by itself. Its like a badly configured joystick on PC. Thanks for showing where the 5v is though. DO you have any idea why its doing that though.

Thanks
Jon

Are you connecting the L/R/U/D to the digital pad connections?  Sounds like on of your connections is grounding out on the pad causing the button to stay in the "pressed" position.  Recheck your grounds and solder points to the button contacts.

I am using a Quantum firepad because there easier to wire because you dont have to soder anything. THere are wires that go from the PCB to the control buttons circuit board I cut them off and routed them to the buttons on my arcade machine. All the buttons work exept it automatically presses the up down left right buttons like when i move up it goes back down and vice versa. I tried disconnecting each one of the up down left or right and it does it no matter which one is connected. maybe there all not grounded right? THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS
