In MusicMatch, I have a choice of ripping using VBR quality or ripping at a constant rate of, say, 192kps. Which would you choose? Thanks! -C

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure constant is better, I know my DVD player can't play MP3's encoded with variable. If someone knows better I'm sure they'll let us know.

I gotsta chime in here... VBR is theoretically better...
VBR changes its bitrate according to the demands of the music track. Unfortunately not all players properly playback VBR MP3 files.
So if you encode a song at 160kbit constant rate, and the track would sound better during the drum solo at 240kbit (i made up that number), then it won't sound as good (cause it's stuck in "low gear" ) as the VBR file which would have kicked it up to 240kbit when it was necessary.

VBR is supposedly better but i have heard it conflicts with some mp3 players (portable).
I have not tried VBR on my iPod?
